The DIVINE Attribute was initially only used on the three original [[Egyptian God]] cards, which were [[illegal]] in official play. Thus the Attribute was not considered [[legal]] until the end of 2008, when "[[Obelisk the Tormentor]]" was first released in the ''OCG'' as an [[Effect Monster]] as a ''V Jump'' promotional card. With the release of ''[[Battle Pack 2: War of the Giants]]'' in 2013, all three Egyptian God cards have received legal releases in all regions of both the ''OCG'' and ''TCG''<!--Slifer in the TCG was North America only until that set-->.
Since then, there have been three additional DIVINE monsters released: "[[The Creator God of Light, Horakhty]]" (''OCG'' only), the combined form of all three Egyptian Gods; "[[The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode]]"; and "[[The Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix]]" (''OCG'' only).
The DIVINE Attribute's exclusive nature makes it useful in some cases; for example, it is the only Attribute unaffected by "[[Clear World]]".<!--Just in case anyone asks for a second example: it's the only Attribute immune to the tactic of the opponent using a HERO monster + Super Polymerization + an Omni-HERO in the Extra Deck to steal your monster with no way for you to respond. But this seemed too complex to explicitly write down in the article, and now that SuperPoly is banned it's even less worth including.-->
