They often can be treated as a different type when face-up on the field.
The only Ape Monster Monsters released in real cards are "[[Test Ape]]", "[[Ancient Crimson Ape]]", "[[Ape Fighter]]" and "[[Zeman the Ape King]]" as the only Ape monsters. [[Devack]] uses "[[Zeman the Ape King]]" as a [[Dark Synchro]], not a [[Synchro]].
