==Rename==
I agree with the renaming. "Reira" is written in Katakana, which is, among others, used to write foreign (non-Japanese) names. I know lots of names were romanized wrongly in the anime several times, but it seems pretty unlikely that they would write it "Layla" if they did meean it to be "Reira" ("Reira" is exactly how it sounds in Japanese, after all, they shouldn't have problems at all romanizing it). * This is the same problem as Leo Akaba. The anime clearly shows him as Layra but here we write Reira. Leo Corporation is named after its founder but we don't call him Leo but Reio or Reo... ::The Reo case was completely different. We never saw his name written down in the anime, and the captions showed is as being written in Kanji. "Reio" is the ''correct'' reading for his name, it's just that they make his name be read in another way. His name is not a foreign name like Layra's, it's a legit Japanese name, that's why it's "Reo". "L" doesn't exist in Japanese. ::::Like I said. Japanese people are ''not'' good with romanization, so they do mess up a lot trying to romanize names. Gauche and Droite are French names. ''I'', who've always written and read in ocidental letters, wouldn't know how to write their names just from listening how they are pronounced, let alone Japanese people. But I'm saying Reira is a different case. Names like "Shuzo" (which was written "Syuzou") confuse Japanese people because of the characters' compositions (for example, "shu" = "shi" + "yu"). However, "Reira" is the exact Japanese pronunciation, there isn't a single character that may be confusing when romanizing it. If it was supposed to be like that, there's no way they could've had problems writting "reira". And it's valid to assume this because it is written in Katakana, which is used for foreign names like "Layra", not Japanese names like "Reira". Do you get what I'm trying to say now or do I have to make a drawing or something? There's much more behind translating from Japanese that you think, you bet many people would be in cloud nine if it was easy and simple as you think it is. ::Its ambiguous. Currently, I know of several people looking back at old episodes to determine the exact pronouns used to refer to Reira. For what its worth, the official AV site NEVER refers to Reira's gender at all. Japan has a number of gender neutral pronouns. 
::Worth noting that the "hiding long hair in a hat and then revealing someone as female" is a common anime trope. 
::Its also not clear if he was actually a piece of Ray (which would strengthen the argument for him being female) or if he was just a convenient vessel. ::::On more than one occasion, the name is spelled as "Layra" on-screen (this is also used in the official subs). "Layra" is a real name and is in fact a feminine name.
::::The dub name, "Riley", is a gender neutral name.
::::Reiji himself (who is the most important person to talk about here as he is close family) never refers to Reira in a way that indicates gender in any way. Nor does Himika. What other characters call this character isn't really important since they don't know him and could make the same assumptions fans did.
::::Several random officials and security do refer to this character as male, but see above point.
::::The official site's character bios do not indicate a gender for him.
::::The hat-hiding-long-hair is a common anime trope used in gender reveals.
:::::So my conclusion is that the anime was deliberately vague the entire time, perhaps in preparation for this reveal. Even the dub backs this up with the use of a gender neutral name. Personally, I believe the character is in fact female, but there's still not enough evidence in either direction to be conclusive. Let's hope AV makes this clear in the coming weeks.

I also agree that Reira was a boy. In fact by him using the masculine boku throughout the entire series, and while possessed by Ray, he switched to the more feminine "watashi". Also evidenced by how Reiji was really surprised when he saw Reira appearing highly feminine. Some might say that it was the situation and that he wasn't surprised by Reira's appearance, but you should note he had a lot of shock shown when Reira took off his hat. As someone who has been with Reira, I'm sure he would know his gender for fact, and if you record his shock it shows how surprised he really was.
