Riko Xen, is a very talented and somewhat eccentric duelist that functions as the series' main protagonist.

Riko is the only character whose name does not contain anything Japanese. Thus, his name does not mean anything.

Character design[edit]

Riko's usual outfit consists of the standard Uria Ruby uniform unzipped. His dark brown hair is sectioned in two layers, the layer closest to his face jutting out to the right a little bit. His brown eyes are positioned directly beneath the bangs of the layer closest to his face. He carries the original KaibaCorp. Duel Disk on his left hand.

Character biography[edit]

While at a local tournament in which he has managed to make it to finals, Riko runs into Ken Geki. The two decide to talk and easily become friends due to their love for dueling. When the final duel is announced, Riko leaves to duel his final opponent, Ryu Busouyami. While Ryu starts to overpower him with his Dark Armed Return Deck, Riko manages to pull a come-from-behind victory with his Lightsworn Deck. Afterward, Ken suggests he enter Duel Academy Perp., which Ken already attends.

Personality[edit]

Riko's personality is very similar to that of Jaden Yuki. However, he also has similarities to Yugi Muto and Yusei Fudo.

Riko enjoys fun and adventure, and does not usually enjoy work. He has an extreme love for dueling, and he doesn't care if others pick on him about it.

Despite his fun loving and goofy nature, Riko is one of the most mature people in his group of friends. He knows when he needs to act serious and when to act fun.

Voice/Mannerisms[edit]

Most times, Riko is cheerful and optimistic. He is very friendly and can usually become fast friends with anyone. The only time he is not cheerful and optimistic is when something serious has happened or is happening.

Deck[edit]

Riko runs a Lightsworn Deck based on self-milling cards from his own Deck to the Graveyard. While most characters in the series (such as Natsu) instantly assume this is a stupid idea, Riko has shown on many occasions that the strategy works.
