James 'Shamus' Smith

The following discussion is preserved as an archive of an unsuccessful request for adminship. Please do not modify it.
Nomination

A somewhat less fashionable self-nomination. I wish to become an administrator so that I can assist in securing the Wikia against griefing and/or misinformation by unregistered or uninformed persons. I have striven to be helpful in rulings questions where I see them, and always bring up any issues I see around the Wikia on the relevant Talk Page. Unfortunately, I've not had any knowledge that a user forum even existed for this Wikia, but will make an effort to join in on the discussions held there. I accept. Shamus (talkcontribs) 21:14, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

Result - unsuccessful
Unsuccessful. Too few contributions, no major indication of knowledge of the role or why you can be trusted with it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:45, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve as an administrator. Please answer the following four questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to take part in maintaining the appearance of the Wikia, deleting spam and correcting grammatical errors where they appear.
2. What do you consider to be your best contributions, and why?
A: I pointed out that one of the cards on the TCG side of the PHSW card-list showed the JP prefix, and have supplied many tips and trivia for upcoming and now-released cards. I find fact-finding fascinating and thoroughly enjoyed discovering that Tribe-Shocking Virus is only the fifth-ever monsters to be a WATER Thunder-type, being the only one with an Effect.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I have been frustrated by anonymous users vandalising articles with spam, random crap or unsupported information, but I always stay calm and report such misuses to higher-ups like Falzar.
4. Do you regularly contribute to any other wikis? Are you an administrator or bureaucrat on any of them, or do you have accounts with similar roles on forums, blogs, etc.? Could you provide links, if so?
A: I have contributed a couple of times to the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages Wiki, with details relating to quests in Skyrim.
