- This card can be Tribute Summoned with one Tribute using "Flame Ruler".
- This card works very well with "Mausoleum of the Emperor".
- Especially if you have Solemn Wishes out, so you can have enough life points to pay the cost.
- This can further be used to an advantage by Fire Princess
- Especially if you have Solemn Wishes out, so you can have enough life points to pay the cost.
- At the End Phase of a turn it is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up, a Spirit Monster will return to it's owner's hand. However, if "Dimensionhole" is played on a Spirit Monster, it will be removed from play and return to play during the next Standby Phase. Since the Spirit Monster was not Normal Summoned or flipped face-up during that turn, it will not return to the hand during the End Phase. Using "Dimensionhole" on Yamata Dragon is an easy way to keep it on the field.
- This and the other Spirit Monsters can waste Light and Darkness Dragon's effect. Due to the fact that the "spirit bounce" effect is obligatory during the End Phase, LaDD will negate the effect over and over until it reaches 800 ATK.
- Use Spiritual Energy Settle Machine and/or Shield and Sword to make use of this card's high DEF.
- If Interdimensional Matter Transporter is activated, targeting this card before it's effect resolves, it will be removed, then instantly return to the field, but it will stay because it's treated as not being summoned that turn.
- You can use this card in a loop with Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Totem Dragon to summon this card each turn. It's easy to do and helps maintain hand presence. Works very well with Royal Decree.
- A tricky move to do is to tribute set this monster. If your opponent attacks it with a weaker monster, it is still considered to have done battle damage, and you draw.
- It is helpful to set Major Riot before ending your turn, so when it is sent back to your hand, every other monster that was not destroyed will be sent back the hand.
