Ryujiro, [[Kotaro Mizunuma|his older brother, Kotaro]] and three others harassed a student in a shopping district. They were stopped by [[TheodoreHamilton]]. Ryujiro urged his brother to just beat Theodore up, but Kotaro cited that he had dangerous eyes and the group fled. Later, Ryujiro spoke about [[LINK VRAINS]] and [[Yusaku Fujiki|Playmaker]] to one of the other gang members. He was interrogated by Theodore, who was looking for information on those topics. Kotaro intervened and Theodore left. Kotaro vowed to make Theodore pay, but Ryujiro's interaction with Theodore had given him an idea.<ref name="ep61" />
The group kidnapped [[Kiku Kamishirakawa]], and sent her friend, [[Hana]] to get Theodore. When Theodore appeared, they released Kiku after Theodore agreed to Duel Ryujiro, with the wager that Theodore would become their minion if he lost. Ryujiro built up a strong defense, and though his monsters were destroyed by Theodore, he avoided taking damage and proceeded to Summon "[[Despair from the Dark (anime)|Despair from the Dark]]".<ref name="ep61" /> Theodore was reduced to a shivering mess as Ryujiro destroyed his monsters, but suddenly gained a burst of resolve due to the encouragements of his A.I. and [[Rising Fire (anime)|revived]] his "[[Phoenix Gearfried (anime)|Phoenix Gearfried]]", then combined it with "[[Tempest Fire]]" to destroy "Despair from the Dark" and defeat Ryujiro.<ref name="ep63">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh!
