This card's name is a reference to Illusion Magician, which was the ka of Mahad, Pharaoh Atem's loyal priest in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

This card is an Xyz counterpart of "Dark Magician".
- This card has also two other Xyz counterparts: "Ebon High Magician" and "Legendary Magician of Dark".

This card has two female counterparts: "Apprentice Illusion Magician" and "Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal".
- Fittingly, "Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal" can be used for this card's alternate Xyz Summon.

The Spanish text of this card has two small typos, as it says "2 monstruos Nivel 7" instead of "2 monstruos de Nivel 7". Similarly, "Monstruo Normal Tipo Lanzador de Conjuros" should have been printed as "Monstruo Normal de Tipo Lanzador de Conjuros".
