"Machina", known as "Machiners" (マシンナーズ Mashinnāzu) in the OCG and some video games, and as "Machine" in the English manga, is an archetype of EARTH and DARK Machine monsters which debuted in the OCG in Premium Pack 9. "Machina" monsters were used by Kirk Dixon in the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga, Blister in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, and Bolt Tanner in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's manga.
Jerome McHale explained in a post on Pojo that the archetype's name was localized in the TCG name to "Machina" from "Machiners" because the former name "clearly demonstrates that these are Machine monsters, not other Types of monsters that do work on machines".

The "Machina" monsters can be divided into four groups of monsters based on their order of release. Each group of monsters share similar traits and effects, and some later members are counterparts of earlier ones.

"==Playstyle==The archetype can be split into two type of monsters :* Higher Level Machina that either have an effect to discard another Machina", known /Machine to the GY such as "Machiners" (マシンナーズ Mashin'nāzu) in Japan and some video games and "Machine" in the English manga, are an archetypeMachina Air Raider of ", "EARTHMachina Irradiator ", "Cannon " and "Fortress-" or want to be discarded to the graveyard due to their graveyard effect such as "Ruinforce cards which debuted in the OCG ", "Premium Pack 9Machina Megaform. They currently have a " and "Structure DeckMachina Citadel (". These Machina effect varies between removal and negate effect of "Machina MayhemFortress). They are used by ", "Kirk DixonMachina Citadel in the " and "Yu-Gi-Oh! RMachina Ruinforce manga, " to replacing current Machina such as "Air Raider in the " and "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D'sMachina Irradiator anime " and "Bolt TannerMachina Megaform in ".* Lower level Machina that help protect, mil, search and swarm the higher level Machina. The only exception to this rule is "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D'sMachina Metalcruncher" which is a hybrid between these two types being able to be normal summon to search out other Machina and being good discard so it could be bring back with higher ATK with it mangas effect.
The cards in the archetype and their support cards include: "Commander Covington", original "Machina Cannon", "playstyle was focused on Machina SoldierSpecial Summon", ing "Machina SniperForce", with the effect of "Machina DefenderCommander Covington", ; this playstyle had become obsolete with later "Machina Force"support and boss monsters, which are far more effective and poorly synergize with this original playstyle. Some "Machina Fortress", "monsters are also Machina GearframeUnion monster"s, and but these effects only play a minimal role in the current "Machina Peacekeeper"playstyle.
The archetype involves either getting the three Generally, EARTH "Machina" monsters are high-Level monsterswith two common effect patterns: Special Summoning themselves by discard onto your ing fieldMachine monsters, and using destroying the effect of player's Machine monsters (or trigger their effects in response to their destruction) for advantage. The two main "Commander CovingtonMachina" to boss monsters with Special Summonfield -holding powers are "Machina ForceFortress" or the quick summoning of and "Machina Citadel", whose effects reflect these two patterns: "Fortress"can be Special Summoned from the hand or GY by discarding Machine monster(s) whose total Levels equal 8 or more, while "Citadel" can be Special Summoned from the GY if an EARTH Machine monster is destroyed, and has a Quick Effect that destroys the opponent's monsters by destroying one of the player's Machine monster.
==Playing style==Before the release of The two key "Machina" consistency monsters are "Structure Deck: Machina MayhemMetalcruncher, this Deck was not a TCG Deck. Unfortunately, after the release of Structure Deck: Machina Mayhem " and "Machina SniperGearframe" didn't have the 'two-card lock' wording that ", who can Marauding Captainsearchout ", Machina" monsters when Summoned. "Magician's ValkyriaMachina Air Raider" and "Morphtronic MagnenMachina Irradiator" hadare supportive monsters that also require discarding to be Special Summoned, you couldnand can destroy the player't block your opponents' attacks. s monsters to Special Summon "Machina Soldier" could monsters from the Special SummonDeck another "Machina", but usually that would not be enough. The concept was completely ignored until the Structure Deck was releasedor GY.
The core components of aDARK "'Machina" Deck are monsters have more diverse supportive effects. "Machina FortressPossesstorage"revives "Machina" monsters in the GY, "Machina GearframeUnclaspare"is an extender that also mills a "Machina" monster, and "Machina PeacekeeperResavenger" because of their versatility in any is an ATK boost Machinehand trap oriented Deckwith self-recovery. The DARK "Machina Force" also has a placeboss monster, but only because it is an easy fodder for the Summoning requirement of "Fortress" that can be easily searched by "Gearframe". A common loop in all "MachinaRuinforce" Deck variants is that "Gearframe" and "Peacekeeper" search for each other, always ensuring that there is a 4600 ATK beatstick that can Special Summon itself from the GY by banishing Machinemonsters in the GY; it can negate-Typecard effect monster ready for s during the discardBattle Phase cost of , and can Special Summon banished "FortressMachina"monsters when destroyed.
BasicallyTheir spell and trap varies from searching, the main strategy is to sacrifice Machine monsters to Summon more powerful Machine monsters. It's harder than it looks, but when it's done right, you can easily defeat your opponentprotection and recycling. Using cards like "Time MachineMachina Redeployment" and help dump higher level Machina into the GY to search more Machina. "Dimensional PrisonMachina Overdrive" to protect your monsters until you can combine them is one way to ensure victory. Using help bring out a Machina right from the deck and serves as recycle, "Swords of Revealing LightMachina Armored Unit" when you have all the monsters needed to Summon and "Machina ForceDefense Perimeter" also works. This gives you enough time to complete the processboth serves as protection and recycling.
Using the The "Machina"Gadgetarchetype's" overall game plan is also recommendeda relentless beatdown strategy, since they can search for more Machine constantly dumping and reviving easily Special Summoned high-ATK boss monsters to be used to Summon "Machina Fortress"end the game as quickly as possible. "Dekoichi While the Battlechanted Locomotive" is a good Draw engineDeck has little to no protection, and it is a good target for "Black Salvo" for an easy Level 7 Synchro Summon (such as "Black Rose Dragon"). Another good card for this Deck is "Cyber Valley" because capable of it's dodging targeted effect to stop the Battle Phase and to draw a card. Another decent combo in the "Machina" archetype that you can use is to equip "Cyber Dragon" with "Armored Cybern". By keeping them in Defense Position you have a good defense and an even better offense. When you equip "Armored Cybern" to "Cyber Dragon" you can destroy a card by giving up 1000 ATK. You can also equip it to "Prototheir self-Cyber Dragon" to do the exact same thing, but you can only do it once without an Equip Card to boost it's ATK. By using "Proto-Cyber Dragon" first popping effect and then upgrading it to "Cyber Dragon" you can easily keep your monsters safe until you can Summon "Machina Fortress" either replace themselves or reviving another "Machina Force". "Roll Out!" can be extremely helpful in this case (either by recycling monster from the effect of "Armored Cybern" Deck or providing more protection for your "Cyber Dragon").  Alsograveyard, using "Future Fusion" to Summon "Chimeratech Overdragon" is a good way to send copies of "Machina Fortress" to or blow up the Graveyard. This can be timed along opponent's field with the effect upon destruction of "Geartown" to Special Summon "Ancient Gear Gadjiltron DragonMachina Citadel". ThatHowever, the archetype's a good strategy to get your monsters to reliance on discards and destroying the Graveyard. Itplayer's not the best strategy, as "Chimeratech Overdragon" sends all other monsters you control to the Graveyard when Summoned this way, but gives it's still a powerful one and you can summon the "Machina Fortress" once "Chimeratech Overdragon" is destroyedpoor grind game. This can also work archetypal weakness is typically mitigated by hybridizing the Deck with another Machine archetype that provides a much stronger grind game, the two most common ones being the "The Last Warrior from Another PlanetGadget", though it is not a Machine. With nearly constant discard fodder of "Machina Fortressand ", numerous decent-ATKInfinitrack monsters, and a destruction-saving Union monster, this kind of Deck plays with relentless Beatdown and some field & hand control" archetype==Deck variants=====Machina GadgetRecommended cards===Machina Gadget ====Monsters====Recommended cards<!-- This is not an exact Decklist. Then, if no player had lost any Life Points up till now, pay 1000 Life Points to attack an opponent's Attack Position monster and activate "Limiter Removal" during damage calculation. ==Weaknesses==A weakness proc most of this Deck is being removed from playtheir effect, cards such as neither "Machina FortressZombie World" nor or "Machina Peacekeeper" (unless it is equipped to a monster) can activate their effects when "Dimensional FissureLair of Darkness", "Banisher will shut down half of the Light", "archetype.* As a Banisher of the RadianceMachine"archetype, and/or "specific Macro CosmosType" is in play. -counter cards such as "System Down" and "Karma Cut" are also devastating cards for this Deck, therefore a Side Deck containing "Imperial Iron Wall" and cards that destroy/negate spells and traps is needed. or "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" is also another card to look out for, as an opponent can remove all your Machine monsters on your side of are very effective against the field with his own - or even your own - "Cyber DragonDeck", leaving your field empty for a 2000-4000+ as ATK Deckoptions.Archseries navbox
