- This card can be searched via "Sangan", "Last Will", "Witch of the Black Forest", "Giant Rat", "Warrior Lady of the Wasteland", "Field-Commander Rahz", "Reinforce Truth", "Freed the Matchless General", and "Reinforcement of the Army".
- Mystic Swordsman LV2's attack is too low for it to reliably destroy a monster as a result of battle (simply destroying a monster by a result of it's effect doesn't count). Consider using Level Up! instead.
- Alternately, consider using "Command Knight" or "Marauding Captain" to protect it. The latter is particularly effective since you can summon it, then Special Summon this card and attack your opponent's face-down, clearing the path for your Captain.
- You can use "Ojama Trio" and "Final Attack Orders" to give your opponent a weak monster that your swordsman can destroy to level up (and cause moderate damage in the process).
