All cards under $10 a piece (preferably under 5)

Side Deck for "A Hero Lives" Glads

Monster Cards

Spell Cards

My main deck doesn't include Maxx "C"s (SO EXPENSIVE D:), Veilers or Crows, and If I feel the need to use the side deck, I would typically side out my A Hero Lives x2, Elemental HERO Prisma x2, Elemental HERO Stratos, and Test Tiger x2 for Thunder King Rai-Oh x3 (atm, I proxy them w/ friends), Dimensional Fissure x2 (if it will hinder) and two other cards based on what I'm facing.

  • Thunder King and Fissure are just for general Anti-meta stuff.
  • Cyber dragon for machines (w/Chimeratech Fortress Dragon)
  • Mirror of Oaths for dino rabbit and opposing glads
  • Leeching the Light for agent
  • Tornado/MST for Stalling decks, or just anything that I want more S/T removal against.
  • Veiler/D.D. Crow are partially for Wind-up and Inzektor, but also just for general hindering; my big question is which is better this format? I know they're both pretty useful, but considering I usually side in Fissure, would Veiler be better?

I haven't started dueling outside of my ring of friends yet, so I don't know what I'll be up against here at local card shops etc.. Presumably when I do, I'll have questions about countering specific decks, but in the meantime, what other decks should I be wary of? Are their better ways to counter the ones I have here?

I've checked the "list of cards to side against common decks" and that's where a lot of this came from, I'd just like to mull this over with some other people before I go out and buy what I don't have. Brakedamold (talkcontribs) 08:30, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure on prices (using CoreTCG's and TrollandToad's prices), but some decent sidedeck cards are:

For your sidedeck though I'd think Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, D.D. Crow, Electric Virus, Chain Disappearance would be the only ones you'd need, if at all.
But it really all depends on the meta in your area.

Unfortunately, glads really can't run Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror effectively, as they're pretty dependent on Gladiator Beast Gyzarus' effect. That's why it isn't in here. Chain disappearance is a great idea I hadn't thought of, though. I'll work on getting a copy or two, but what should I take out for it??

It's also worth mentioning that cards like Electric Virus aren't as useful in this deck as in most decks because I have no tuners or tribute monsters, so unless I take a level 3 or 4 monster and Overlay with it, I can't really make good use of it.Brakedamold (talkcontribs) 15:34, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

Here is the sidedeck I run:

I've seen people run 3x Rivalry, but I'm honestly not sure why as 1 might even be enough. I'm also thinking about trying to acquire some Light-Imprisoning Mirrors and a System Down.

Already talked about Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, and I maindeck bottomless and D-Prison in doubles. What' DNA surgery for exactly? Brakedamold (talkcontribs) 18:59, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

Crap I completely forgot Gladiator Beast Gyzarus was a dark.
But Electric Virus is for Rabbit players, use it to take their Evolzar Laggia and do whatever you want with it, tribute it (I do know glads don't do much tributing), suicide with it, dark hole, etc. It also kind of works against Wind-Ups since they tend to have Machine Xyz's.
Also, be wary with Tour Guide builds or WindZektors when using Chain Disappearance because they can go for Leviair easily while pure Inzektors can't.
If you manage to draw into two and use one on TGU and one on Dragonfly you should be set though lol.
As I said though, it all depends on the meta in your area.
And @ Kain, what's with the double MST? That means you don't main 2 which every deck should unless they never attack or summon. DNA Surgery wouldn't help him much. I don't think glads should be using Rivalry of Warlords either. Their types vary too much.

DNA Surgery can hurt Dino Rabbit. --> Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 00:14, March 10, 2012 (UTC)
If you're thinking of it like that then so does Zombie World and although it's not chainable it stops decks that use tributes (not likely outside of FrogNarchs) and it can force an MST when you have a Solemn set, and Glads tend to have quite a large backrow.

That's a good point... I haven't seen much monarch, but it stops Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En plays as well as Rabbit plays, so that seems worth playing. I guess the matter of what to take out for it will be drastically affected by what I'm facing, but ideas? Brakedamold (talkcontribs) 04:15, March 10, 2012 (UTC)

Brake, DNA Surgery is to be comboed with Cyber Dragon so I can turn all monsters into machines and tribute them all to bring out Chimeratech Fortress Dragon (which I think I did not list in my Extra Deck on my SS topic...).

123.211... (is that really the user name?), no, I do not have any room to have MST in my actual deck. I am trying to keep my deck at 40 cards exactly, with 16 Monsters, 16 Magic, and 8 Traps. Since I run a Six Samurai deck, I have the Samurai staples in there like 3x Ascetism, 3x United, 2x Dojo, 2x Smoke Signal, 1x RotA, 1x Gateway, and then Reborn, Dark Hole, Heavy Storm, and Book of the Moon. It's either use the 2x Effect Veilers or use 2x MST, and Veiler is far more important than MST, especially when I have both Shi-En and Naturia Beast in my Extra Deck.
