Soul of the Duelist (SOD) was the twelfth English booster set in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The new level (LV) monsters require the lower level version of itself to be summoned. Highly sought after cards include the Horus set, Armed Dragon set, Mobius the Frost Monarch, and Hallowed Life Barrier. This is the first set to follow the Japanese format (4 Ultra Rares and 7 Super Rares).This set is notable as this is the first set where Secret Rares have been eliminated as a in-set rarity and for being the first to number cards under the new international numbering system (SOD-ENxxx for English, for example). In TCG for the first time, every Ultra Rare, Super Rare, and Rare card has an Ultimate Rare version. This booster introduces Ultimate Rare cards and the new level (LV) monsters. "The ultimate soul arises! Soul of the Duelists introduces a new breed of monsters that can level up and become stronger with each victory. The mightiest of these LV monsters is 'Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8' that has the power to negate any Spell Card effect! You can also find the largest Fusion Monster outside of Japan, and the deadly attack of the 'Red-Eyes B. Dragon' can be yours as the Spell Card 'Inferno Fire Blast'. The 12th booster also introduces the new Ultimate Rare card! These cards are an awesome looking etched foil variant, and there's one for every rare card in the set. 9 cards per pack with 60 cards to collect, plus 25 Ultimate Rare variant cards."
