Konami is a leading developer and publisher of numerous popular and strong-selling toys, trading cards, anime, tokusatsu, slot machines, arcade cabinets and video games.

Konami manufactures the Asian version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, commonly known as the OCG (Official Card Game) and organize all OCG tournaments. Konami also produces all Yu-Gi-Oh! video games.

Upper Deck Entertainment was formerly licensed to manufacture the worldwide version of the game, commonly known as the TCG (Trading Card Game), under Konami's direction, until losing the license in a lawsuit.

Konami often releases cards with no foresight as to how they would interact with other cards. One such card is El Shaddoll Winda, which can put many Synchro and Xyz-based Decks in a deadlock. Another example is the Pendulum Mechanic, as decks based around it can be dismantled by cards that clear the field.

More recently, Konami has gained the rights to dub Yu-Gi-Oh! anime from 4Kids Entertainment, having secured YGO-related rights and assets in a joint operation also involving Saban Brands. Saban will air Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, as well as other Yu-Gi-Oh! programs starting on August 25th, as part of their Vortexx block on Saturday mornings.
