About Me

I'm currently a university student living in Queensland, Australia, and I first started playing Yu-Gi-Oh! back in 2006. I don't play competitively (you can tell by my username haha) and I tend to favour decks with some kind of theme rather than focusing on a strategy/combo. My favourite card is Obelisk the Tormentor and in my opinion the sexiest card is Harpie Queen. Check out her OCG artwork hehehe.

I don't have anyone around to duel with so I'm very sad about that.

EDIT: I now have 3 yugioh buddies to play with everyday! Yay!

Deck Story

It's been a long time since I started on this Deck...It all started with the card Supremacy Berry. I was surprised that Konami finally made an improved version of Dian Keto, albeit with a slightly situational usage. I really like the artwork, and I noticed that the white ring of light around the dove was also present in a lot of Fairy monsters, such as Archlord Kristya and Tethys, Goddess of Light, kind of like how the Seal of Orichalcos can be found in the artwork of many Dark Magician related cards.

And so I decided to build a deck based on the ring of light. I used a basic Fairy deck at first, but I soon found it to be very inconsistent due to having far too many high LV monsters. I compromised and added more low level Fairy monsters instead, but the vast majority of them had poor stats and could not survive long enough to be useful to me, with the exception of the amazing Gellenduo. To solve this problem I splashed in 3 copies of Thunder King Rai-Oh. This addition dramatically improved my deck as it also provided me with a bit of Anti-Meta control, helping me to stand up to the top tier decks.

However, after a few weeks I realized that my deck had an obvious flaw - I had no Extra Deck as of yet and it made my Deck significantly worse than some other decks. The other decks could devote more space to Speed and Fodder monsters while staying at the 40 card limit, whereas I could not, and on top of that, their Fusion/Synchro monsters were even stronger than my LV 7/8 monsters! Even so, being someone who does not like change, I was obstinate and refused to include any Extra Deck cards, with the exception of the ever-so-popular Stardust Dragon, since it worked well with my Starlight Road.

It wasn't until the advent of Xyz Monsters that I finally decided to improve my Extra Deck. I found the Xyz monsters much easier to summon (probably due to the slow pace of my deck) but unfortunately there were no good Fairy type choices. I decided to just go with LIGHT instead. Having already included Thunder King Rai-Oh who is a Thunder type, I no longer had any objection to adding the tuner Vylon Prism, which I found to be an extremely valuable asset, being able to power up another monster as well as used for a Synchro summon.

These days I am working on my Side Deck.
