TCG Rulings
- You can Tribute a face-down Warrior for “Turret Warrior”, and it will still gain the appropriate ATK.[1]
- You can Tribute a Warrior-Type Token monster to Special Summon “Turret Warrior”, or a card like “Embodiment of Apophis” that is currently a Warrior. “Turret Warrior” still gains the appropriate ATK in these cases.[1]
- If you Tribute a Warrior with variable ATK, like “Evil Hero Dark Gaia” [sic], the original ATK is treated as 0 so “Turret Warrior” gains no bonus ATK.[1]
- Tributing a Warrior to Special Summon “Turret Warrior” is not a cost; both the Tribute and the ATK increase are part of the effect.[1]
OCG Rulings
- Tributing a Warrior-Type monster and increasing this card's ATK are part of the Special Summon. These do not start a chain.[2]
- You can Tribute a face-down Warrior-Type monster to Special Summon this card. If you do so, "Turret Warrior" gains ATK equal to the Tributed monster's printed ATK.[3]
- The ATK gained by "Turret Warrior" is based on the monster's ATK after it is Tributed. If a "Evil HERO Dark Gaia" or "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" under the effect of "DNA Surgery" is Tributed, ? ATK is treated as 0 ATK, so "Turret Warrior" will have 1200 ATK.[4]
