- Marik Ishtar was about to use this card against Joey Wheeler in the semi-finals of Battle City. But Joey used "Question" to Summon "Jinzo" who could destroy all Trap Cards, including "Malevolent Catastrophe".
- Malevolent Catastrophe apparently destroyed all monsters on the field instead of all Spell Cards and Trap Cards on the field. However, since Marik Ishtar commented that he would attack Joey Wheeler directly with Legendary Fiend once Malevolent Catastrophe destroyed Joey's monsters, the exact anime effect of this card is not certain.
