- This card can be Tribute Summoned with one Tribute using "Flame Ruler".
- Use "Dark Bribe" to protect this card. The card he/she draws from the effect of Dark Bribe will be send to the graveyard at your opponent's next draw phase.
- This card works very well with "Mausoleum of the Emperor", as this card's power is respectably high, and it can destroy whatever assets your opponent has, Fushi No Tori can be used to ease the cost of Mausoleum.
- Equip "Mirror of Yata" to this card and use card like "Dust Tornado" to destroy it after it pass your End Phase to keep this card on the field.
- You can play "Macro Cosmos" or "Dimensional Fissure" and offer "D.D. Survivors" or "D.D. Scout Planes" as Tributes for the Tribute Summon. When "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" returns to your hand, "D.D. Survivor" and "D.D. Scout Plane" will get Special Summoned onto your field and not leave you open because of their effects.
- Use this combo if you are up against Dark World Decks, as Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi will only cause them to activate their effects otherwise.
- Another method is to play Stray Lambs and set Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi. Keep in mind that the effect activates when your opponent attacks and the monster is flipped up, but may be less effective, as he can set as much cards as possible.
- This and the other Spirit Monsters can waste Light and Darkness Dragon's effect.Due the spirit bounce effect is obligatory during the End Phase, LaDD will negate again and again the effect until it has a low ATK.
- In a Dark World Deck, give this monster to your opponent and attack it with a monster with lower ATK. - Activate "Giant Trunade" before inflicting damage with this card, so your opponent will discard more cards.
- Use cards like "Guardian Sphinx" to allow this card to attack directly and make your opponent discard more cards.
- In addition to the tip above, use a few Xing Zhen Hus to lock yet your opponent's face-down Spells and Traps. Additionally, you may use Spirit Reaper with Yata-Garasu for an instant multi-turn lock
- Use Drop Off to get rid of your opponent's entire hand.
- Combine with Black Garden and Fenrir so when Fenrir destroys Rose Token and while this card attack the Attack Position Rose Token or attack directly which causes a Draw Lockdown.
- Being as decks like Monarch, Scrap, and several Quickdraw-type decks run royal decree, and sometimes no other traps at all, This is a suitable side deck option for a Monarch deck, since they already generate enough tribute material for Light and Darkness Dragon. Of these 3 decktypes, wiping an opponent's hand will almost undoubtedly cause them to lose.
