- In Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses, you can obtain this card by using the Find ability on square "E6" against Mako.
- Use this card to force your opponent to initiate their Battle Phase to trigger effects during it (such as those that force them to attack with their monsters by Evil Hero Malicious Fiend).
- Combine this effect with a card that forces the opponent to skip their Battle Phase, thus skipping their entire turn after they draw. "Thunder of Ruler" is probably the easiest of those to use.
- Use "Ojama Trio", "Gilasaurus", and other such cards to put monsters on your opponent's field for this card to destroy without actually allowing your opponent to get his turn.
- One of the biggest virtues of "Timeater" is that without a Main Phase 1, your opponent normally can't Summon and then attack, so you usually have a turn to deal with whatever your opponent Summons in the way of "Timeater".
- Use cards like "Metalmorph", "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" and "Riryoku" to capitalize off the fact that "Timeater" almost always has the opportunity to attack a monster before the monster can attack it.
- "Timeater" can also offer a strange warding to monsters that need time to work, like "Stealth Bird" or "Swarm of Locusts", by virtue of keeping your opponent from having usable monsters during their Battle Phase.
- Using this card along with Great Long Nose makes your opponent virtually skip their turn (by skipping their Battle Phase, the opponent cannot enter their Main Phase 2), but this lasts for only a short period, because Timeater needs to destroy a monster for it's effect to activate, whereas your opponent cannot Summon or Set due to his turn being skipped. To compensate for this, use cards that make your opponent be in the possession of a monster:Ojama Trio, Grinder Golem, Shien's Spy, a combo of Imperial Iron Wall and Destiny Hero - Departed, or, the easiest choice, Miracle Flipper. Also take note that Great Long Nose is a Spirit monster that needs a tribute to be Summoned, therefore you should have cards that prevent him from returning to the hand like Spiritual Energy Settle Machine or Mirror of Yata. It may be difficult to pull this off, but it's a sure win if these pieces are in place.
- You can combine this strategy with Yata-Garasu to make it a complete turn skip. Mirror of Yata is a must for this. Alternatively, a combination of Black Ptera, Ultimate Offering and Spring of Rebirth allows you to constantly Tribute Summon Great Long Nose and Yata-Garasu, and even gives you a net gain of 500 Life Points per turn.
