- "Caius the Shadow Monarch" appears in the artwork of "By Order of the Emperor" and "Red Screen".
- With the addition of Caius, there is now a Monarch for all monster Attributes, excluding DIVINE.
- This card is the Cover Card for Structure Deck: The Dark Emperor
- This card also has the lowest level of any other Structure Deck cover card.
- For the moment, this is the only TCG Structure Deck cover card that had been reprinted in a non-Deck related set.
- In Roman history, the names Caius and Gaius are interchangeable. This card's name can therefore be a reference to many powerful figures of the late Roman Republic, including Gaius Gracchus, Gaius Julius Caesar, and Gaius Augustus.
- This card appears to be preparing a "Dark Core", whose effect is similar to this card.
- This card appears with "Fabled Soulkius" in the YuGiOh 5D's fourth opening, BELIEVE IN NEXUS, being destroyed by "Stardust Dragon".
- In the artwork of "By Order of the Emperor", "Caius" may be a leader over all the other Monarchs.
- This card along with "Dimensional Alchemist" were the only TCG Structure Deck cards that were reprinted as Gold Ultra Rare. As it happens, these cards both were first printed in the same Structure Deck being The Dark Emperor.
