"Dark Strike Fighter":

The explosion in this card's artwork is similar to those featured on the "Reactor" monsters. Both this card and the "Reactors" are used by Greiger in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime and are depicted as partly-humanoid machines resembling aircrafts. "Trap Reactor・Y FI" is even used in tandem with "Black Salvo", another one of Greiger's cards, to make this card, further establishing the link between this card and the "Reactor" archetype.

This card is the first and currently the only Synchro Monster to become Forbidden.

This is the fifth card to go from being Unlimited to Forbidden instantly. The previous four were "Time Seal", "Victory Dragon", "Chaos Sorcerer", and "Cyber-Stein", in that order. It was later followed by "Substitoad".

This card is forbidden because OCG/TCG didn't keep it's anime effect; if they had, this card will most likely would have remained Unlimited permanently since it's anime effect prevents it from attacking if it used it's effect; this cards effect isn't applied to it's effect (anime).
