  • Theseus was the mythical king of Athens and was the son of Aethra by two fathers: Aegeus and Poseidon. This monster is probably inspired on the sea monster that is present on the storyline of his Six Labours: in a location named Megara, there was an elderly robber that forced travellers along a narrow cliff-face pathway to wash his feet. He then kicked those travellers off the cliff so that they were eaten by a sea monster. In this tale, Theseus was the one that pushed that robber off the cliff.
    • More likely this card gains its name specifically from the thought experiment known as the Ship of Theseus; in which raises the question of whether an object that has had all of its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object. The paradox is most notably recorded by Plutarch in Life of Theseus from the late first century. Plutarch asked whether a ship that had been restored by replacing every single wooden part remained the same ship.
  • This card is the first Tuner Fusion Monster and also is the first Fusion Monster to require Tuner monster(s) as a Fusion Material.
  • This card was advertised by Konami as "one of the most broken cards of 2017".
