If you activated graverobber to take you opponent's monster reborn in his graveyard, when you activated your opponent's monster reborn, can you chain your Barrel behind the door to your opponent's monster reborn that you activated, to send the 2000 points of damage to your opponent life points? 96.44.92.186 (talk) 04:31, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

This monster reborn would normaly give 2000 point of damage to your life points when monster reborn resolve, do to the condition that graverobber give to monster reborn.96.44.92.186 (talk) 04:31, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

The 2000 effect damage comes from a "Lingering Effect" of Graverobber. The effect of Graverobber resolves completely after you have added Monster Reborn to your hand. When you activate Monster Reborn, the 2000 points of damage does not start another Chain Link. This would fall under the ruling:

Barrel Behind the Door", "Trap of Board Eraser", and similar Counter Trap cards must be activated in Chain to an effect which inflicts damage. If the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card like "Spell Chronicle", "Curse of Darkness", or "Fire Princess" would inflict damage but does not start a Chain, then you cannot activate a card like "Barrel Behind the Door"  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 05:34, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

Why does prime material dragon can convert lingering effect that gives damage to life points, while barriel behind the door can't convert the damage to the opponent? And by the way in this situation above the ligering effect does start a chain, the chain is started by monster reborn.96.44.92.186 (talk) 13:37, June 8, 2012 (UTC)

The effect of Prime Material Dragon is applied so as long as it is on the field all damage to your LP is converted. The Barrel Behind the Door has to be chained to the effect that is trying to inflict damage. That means the effect has to start a Chain Link.

The effect of Monster Reborn does start a Chain Link but the effect of Graverobber that is trying to inflict damage is a Lingering Effect. It doesn't start a Chain Link.  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 13:51, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
