Gold Rare (ゴールドレア Gōrudo Rea, or simply Gold) is a rarity introduced in (and exclusive to) Gold Series packs. A Gold Rare has gold lettering and a holographic foil image like an Ultra Rare, but also has a holographic gold image border, effect text border, and card border. On Monster Cards, the Level Stars are embossed in gold foil, similar to those of Ultimate Rares. All OCG gold Ultra Rares look similar to Ultimate Rares when shined around. In the TCG, this started in Gold Series 3, following the "Ultimate" style of gold foil, discontinuing the original "Ultra" style of gold foil. These cards are more reflective than normal Ultra Rare cards, and reflect a gold shine. Starting in Gold Series 2014, all Gold Rares have golden prismatic foil for their card names, much like a Prismatic Secret Rare.
Two alternate styles of Gold Rares exist: Gold Secret Rares (from Gold Series 2013 (OCG) and Premium Gold (TCG)) have Gold Rare frames and the foil pattern of Secret Rares, and Ghost/Gold Rares (from Gold Series: Haunted Mine) have Gold Rare frames and the hologram-like art of Ghost Rare.
