Rename to "Sacred Celtic Guard"[edit]

The reason given was: Part of "Celtic Guard" archetype. Also follows the pattern of "Obnoxious Celtic Guard".

The Japanese name for the archetype is エルフの剣士. This card is エルフの剣士. It is not named like "Obnoxious Celtic Guard", which is 翻弄するエルフの剣士.

Its main Japanese name doesn't make it part of the archetype, but the lore does. It is possible it could be the other way around in English and I think "Sacred Celtic Guard" flows better than "Celtic Sacred Guard". I don't object to the rename, unless people think we're making too big an assumption. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:19, December 27, 2015 (UTC)

I think this is very likely going to be one of those cases where the TCG integrates an OCG archetype condition into the card name. They would need to go out of their way to exclude it. --SnorlaxMonster 07:22, December 27, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, this has been a thing they've been doing for a while, but they're not always consistent. "Edge Imp Frightfuloid" was not renamed to be a "Frightfur" monster in the TCG, but the examples from the "Superheavy Samurai" cards were. Technically, we won't know for sure until rulings come out, actually. I'm not sure which name the Org will be going with yet. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 14:23, December 27, 2015 (UTC)
To add to this, the card name also needs to consider including "Noble Arms". The Frightfuloid example doesn't quite work out perfectly for this case, since Edge Imp Frightfuloid is "Edge Imp DT Modoki" rather than a card that has Death-Toy in its printed name across the Pacific. Essentially, it'd be like having a name of "Edge-Imp Pseudo-FF" - and "Frightfuloid" thus fits perfectly as a term for Pseudo-FF in the context of knowing the meaning of the suffix "-oid". In this case, we aren't going for pseudo-anything. This is an "Elf no Kenshi" that also is an "Elf no Seikenshi", and in being such, codifies "Elf no Kenshi" in a specific way that we have no problem honoring. Further, where possible, special name clauses in text should be eliminated and folded into card names: name clauses of this "always" sort are not effects, and can't be undone, can't be blocked, can't ever be made unmanifest. Harpie Lady SB is always Harpie Lady: this is always a Celtic Guard with Noble Arms in its name. So, whatever the Org decides to do, know that I'm voting for Celtic Guard to be in the name itself.
