A Kindred Soul?

I'm a big fan of esoteric decks too. I just make new and bizarre decks for fun, in my spare time. And I have comments for each of your decks:

Could you take a look at some of my decks? Runer5h 02:49, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Well, I sort of counter that by rarely playing the same deck twice in a row. In reality, my main decks are Normal Beatdown, a modified Zombie Madness structure deck, Mechanical Hound lockdown (my newest one), a control deck, and (my favorite) a quite modified Invincible Fortress Rock deck. I put in my all-time favorite card: Enraged Muka Muka. It's my favorite because it's searchable with Giant Rat, can get to be incredibly huge, and it basically never lets me down in a duel. It can also turn the deck from a passive-aggressive style into a full-on aggressive deck. Runer5h 03:14, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Adminship?

  • I don't know, really. I didn't even know I had been made admin at first. I've just been here awhile. Danny Lilithborne 01:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Yusei's "Warrior" monsters

No, because they're not all Synchro Monsters. They're all monsters with "・ウォリアー" (pronouced "Woriā") in their Japanese name. It is not the same name as the Type. That Warrior is spelled "(せん)()(ぞく)" and pronounced "Senshizoku". The way to distinguish them in English is one is called "Warrior" monsters and the other is called Warrior-Type monsters, similar to how there's a difference between "Toon" monsters and Toon Monsters. -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:52, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Eraser-to-Dark-Ruler

No, I don't intend to bring out both in the same turn. It would basically be impossible. And I think that, with enough negation, Eraser should be able to stay on the field until my turn - especially because I doubt a potential opponent would think that I was trying to make an OTK out of it. (Look at it: must be tribute summoned with 3 tributes, and can grow to astronomical levels. Of all things to expect next, The Dark Ruler would not be one of them.) Runer5h 02:05, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

That could be problematic. I'm banking on my opponent thinking that I'd only destroy it as a last resort, and they're probably not expecting me to use it as a field-clearing mechanism - I'd expect someone to use Demise for that. Runer5h 19:38, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

thanks

thanks messenger of the dark for fixing my page.--Gyzarus 01:35, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

thanks

Thanks, Messenger, for the post. I'll contact you if I need any help on the site or on my deck. It's good to hear that you prefer Dragon monsters, they're some of my favourites too.

Hi!

Hi, Messenger of the dark. I think you are a good guy! Metagame.com 10:23, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

As you requested...

I'm looking at your deck. Let's see what I find...

Well, from a cursory glance it looks a whole lot like Jack Atlas' deck. Anyways, I think you might need some draw power - you've got 40 cards and exactly two of them allow you to draw. And those two can't even really be activated during your own turn. I'd suggest Magical Mallet as a basic (this is actually a really useful card, and in my opinion is the best non-specific draw spell) and Allure of Darkness as well, if you can get it. Also, see if you can get some more synchros, because right now you're using a not-so-grand total of 4 spots out of the maximum 15. And definitely get Multiple Piece Golem too. Those are my basic thoughts. Runer5h 21:18, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Personally, I think that for specific draw spells, you need twice the amount of card used for it (D-Heroes for Destiny Draw, DARK monsters for Allure) to put the draw spell in. Meanwhile, if you didn't find Multiple Piece Golem useful, then by all means don't put it in. Runer5h 22:56, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Your Remarks

Oh, god, yes. Proof of Powerlessness is an awesome idea. But, unfortunately, GotSAO isn't. There's too much special summoning of high level monsters (Miracle Jurassic Egg, Fossil Excavation, Hunting Instinct) for it to work. I was thinking of side-decking Volcanic Eruption along with Babycerasaurus to ensure that I don't leave myself defenseless on my opponent's turn. Runer5h 01:20, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Friendly Competition

Hey, Messenger. I know you like bizarre deck ideas, so I have a proposition for you. But first..

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Limited_Edition_Pack_15

Look at this article. Please note that it is composed of all the super-powered cards from the anime that we never dared hope would be released.

Now about my proposition: how about we each try to make a deck based around one of these cards? (I'm counting Clear Vice Dragon and Clear World as one card for the purposes of this contest, because they're in the same archetype.) I'd be happy to do so.

If you accept, the rules are as follows:

  1. We have to do different cards. The options are as follows: Orichalcos Shunoros - Guardian Eatos - Darkness Neo-Sphere - Clear World/Clear Vice Dragon.
  2. Once we are in agreement about which card we are doing, we each have until the end of the next day to submit our concept deck to the other.
  3. We then submit the decks to the forums and let the popular vote decide.

What do you think? Runer5h 19:45, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Okay... here's an idea; we each have until the end of Sunday to do our deck. How do you like that? I call Orichalcos Shunoros, by the way. Runer5h 02:04, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

http://miniblogs.lv/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/mr_burns.jpg

See there for my response. Let's roll - you have 4 days, so get crackin'. Runer5h 03:20, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Oh, by the way; make a side deck if you can. Runer5h 19:58, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Ready.

I've got my deck here - it's am anti-meta build that uses Shunoros to make big, nigh-indestructible normal monsters.

And here's the side deck.

Give me your decklist as soon as you can - then, we need to figure out how to coordinate this. Runer5h 17:24, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Okay. Here's how I think this should work. When your deck is ready, I'll create the forum, put my deck and relevant explanations, and then alert you that I'm done. Then, you post your own deck with explanations on the same forum. Sounds good? Runer5h 17:29, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Please do - I can't wait to see it! By the way, if you had fun with this, why not have another competition between us? You choose the parameters this time (for instance, it can only be based on cards from a certain set, etc). Runer5h 19:35, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Is It Ready?

Come on! Runer5h 19:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

You said it would be ready this morning - please, be prompt. I can't post my deck until you do. Runer5h 01:41, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Okay, seriously. It's the end of the third day after you said you'd be done. I trust you have a legitimate reason for your delay, but please, please, finish! Runer5h 01:19, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Okay. Thank you. I'll make the thread when I have time - I'm a little busy right now. Runer5h 23:13, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Page Created.

Sorry for the wait. Post yours ASAP, please. Runer5h 02:10, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

This is going to be awesome. Runer5h 02:59, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Don't worry; The Horror was nice enough to make a Voting template for us! Runer5h 19:17, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Thanks

Hi Messenger, thanks for letting me know about Spell Shattering Arrow and the card pages, that's a big help. To answer your question, whenever the hobby league I go to holds tournaments, one person will duel the four members of the team, one at a time, and get one card of their choice for each team member the beat. If they beat all four (this doesn't happen very often), they will get one extra card. So, that's basically what being on the team is.

Thanks again for your help. Black rose27 01:25, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, so far...

Your deck seems to beating mine in votes, but I won't give up hope yet. When would you like to have the competition end? And what should be the parameters of the next one? Runer5h 02:50, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

I'm edging up on you! Come on, when will this end? Runer5h 23:15, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Oh well. I'm doing better than I was. But I think you ought to choose the next contest. Runer5h 02:26, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Hey: do you mind taking a look at my Vanity's Mask Lock deck? Runer5h 02:26, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Well, I don't know about suggestions for what you can do, but you can't do decks based around astronomical bodies, for one (I've actually got two of those). Runer5h 02:43, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Thanks for the Critiques. However..

It's not exactly true. The deck's strategy isn't actually Synchro Summoning; I just put that part in because I already had a Tuner that could prevent its destruction by battle. Basically, it's a fallback option. And it's a lot more difficult to use Vanity's Ruler; in fact, about twice as hard. So, I'm thinking that that will stay out. But Soul Taker isn't such a bad idea. I'll swap that in. Runer5h 19:11, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Why Yes!

I do reside in America! Runer5h 02:59, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

What does that mean; are you saying that we choose a Duel Terminal archetype and make a deck around it? BTW, please look at my Abusive Puppetry deck, it needs serious work. BioMasterZap just owned it - twice. Runer5h 03:03, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
I saw. Thanks. So, we each choose an archetype... I'd choose Dragunity, but as that's not quite out yet can I get Naturia? Runer5h 03:10, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
LIGHT Fiends vs. a garden? Good luck. Runer5h 03:16, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Don't know, but I wish him well. By the way, I forgot that I won't actually be at home (or anywhere where I can access the Web) this weekend. So, how about the new build contest finishes Wednesday. Just tell me who wins the one we've already got. Runer5h 18:12, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Oh My God I've Pulled Ahead

I did not expect that. Runer5h 18:17, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Well, I don't know why we should distrust him.
You know what we should do? We should make proxies of these decks and duel each other online. Runer5h 18:44, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Hey, Trivi-Am wants to know if he can put our decks on his page to "show people who might not know how to use the Forum section of this site the amazing decks you've made". What do you think? Runer5h 18:49, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Seeing who's logged in

Not that I know of. Although not as good, recent changes can be used see who's edited recently. I take it you already knew that. And Special:ListUsers can be used to see when someone last logged in. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:53, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey.

  • Wassup Messenger. I'm E-Dizzle, a friend of Runer5h. I was wondering if you would be up to a duel. I 've always wanted to challenge your Eatos deck, with my Advanced Junk Deck. Could you duel right now? If you can, I'll be waiting on the IRC.

Summoning mechanics page

I would suggest creating the page, but don't redirect the included topics. 'did something similar on the Phase page before, but it ended up getting split again. I'll agree that a merged page is a lot easier to follow for people if they are learning how to play, but to some people it's important that every mechanic has its own article. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:47, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Summoning mechanics page

If it was an article on something that is already the title of a piece of work such as a book or film, then it should capitalise terms as appropriate. This is an entry in an encyclopedia documenting an existing term. "Summoning mechanics" is a term we are talking about. It's not a title we came up with to name our article. Similarly things like removed from play, destroyed by battle, damage calculation and effect damage are capitalised as they appear in card texts. Wikipedia (and many other wikis, encyclopedias and dictionaries) even follow the same convention. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:34, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Yubel

Thanks for the assistance...

mmm... do you think we should get to neutralizing the article by referring to "her" as hermaphrodite/androgynous (my arguments for this were mostly posted on both the talk page and Danny Lilithborne's discussion page)... because, well... I think you know what I'm talking about, right? We should at least make it clear that in the original, "she" wasn't necessarily female, with the original hair/eye color being on the male side, and the boyish voice in the past life, and whatnot (Rod's stubbornness about this and things about "growing into a hardened teenage girl" was really just frustrating).

Or do you think its too early to try to do that...

Yalens 14:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

mmm... well, in the dub, "she" is definitely a girl. However, in the original, it's more than just unclear. "She" uses "boku", which is usually only used by boys (i.e., there are some girls who use it, for example Rei, but that's to remind us that Rei was originally introduced as a male, and furthermore, no girl would use "boku" around a boy she liked... that's just unheard of). In the past life, her voice sounds more than just a little boyish. Furthermore, the original hair color and eye color were on the side of Yubel that has the pectoral muscle and the muscular hip, while the white hair and orange eye are on the side of the breast, suggesting that the female half was the one "she" didn't have in the past life. Furthermore past life Yubel just looks, moves, etc, like a boy, wearing more masculine clothes, etc. I could go on, but the point is that no one can agree on the issue (I could go on with more evidence...). I'd say we should just neutralize the article by removing all gender specific words, for now.
Of course, in the dub, its rather clear that she's a girl in the past life, but still...

Yalens 14:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but they also consent to radical changes in the plot, especially as we see in DM (and see how much Saiou was changed...). Just because they agreed to it doesn't seal it, both parties understand very well that its a very different demographic. Instead of Japan, which is largely accepting of sexual minorities and less suppressive of expression, its Christian, "moralistic" US. And really, it would hardly be the first time a dub changed a gender of a character, even in the Yugioh franchise... (and notably, they've already changed so much else about Yubel, including making "her" noiceably more feminine... why?).
Notably, also, even in the dub, Yubel's voice actor in the past life, as a human child, is a male...
Nonetheless, thanks for the assistence~. Yalens 01:28, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Regarding my challenge...

  • Hey Messenger, regarding the Duel, would you please let me know when you're available to Duel & let me know what deck you'll be using. Thanks!

--E-Dizzle 20:01, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Ok, so what you do is go to irc.wikia.com. Select #Yu-Gi-Oh! in the drop down box on the front page. When you login, make sure your alias isn't the same as your Wikia username. After you log in, type in: /join #yu-gi-oh-duels. I'll be waitin'.

--E-Dizzle 20:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Just keep tryin' it. It didn't work for me the first time, but now it works. Keep tryin' it & let me know what happens.

--E-Dizzle 20:43, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Oh, I forgot to mention, I won't be available until this Tuesday. Sorry Messenger. I'll give you a shout when I'm available.

--E-Dizzle 20:50, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Naturia

Here's my Naturia deck. Well, it's not pure Naturia, but what do you expect from me?

You'd be surprised by how much self-milling that Naturia monsters either perform (Beast, Rock) or benefit from (Dragonfly, Balkion). With that in mind, I present the innovative Naturesworns! Basically, it's about bringing out powerful monsters quickly. The main powerful monsters are Wulf, Dragonfly, and the stuff in the extra deck. There's also a lot of removal to keep the opponent on their toes, with Lyla, Ryko, and MST; and some Naturia toolbox with Kurogane, Cliff, and Antjaw.

Post the decks on the forums when you get the chance. Runer5h 01:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
