Major Events
- Joey is under Marik's control. (Tea was also under Marik's control but she was released once the rules were explained and she unknowingly trapped herself.)
- Both players are chained to an anchor above the Dueling site. When a player's Life Points reach 0, his opponent's key will be unlocked, allowing him to remove the chains. The loser is dragged into the sea forever.
- If anyone attempts to stop the Duel, the crate above Tea will be released (it would most likely kill her, however, this is omitted in the dubbed english version, but the fact that this would happen was obvious).
- Joey uses cards given by Marik.
- Yugi takes over during the Duel.
Duel Recap
- Yami Summons Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts in Defense Position.
- Joey activates Raigeki, destroying Gazelle. He then Summons Alligator Sword and attacks Yami directly, dropping his Life Points to 2500.
- Yami Summons Big Shield Gardna in Defense Position.
- Joey activates Hinotama, dropping Yami's Life Points to 2000.
- Yami Summons Kuriboh and Sets a card.
- Joey attacks Kuriboh, but Yami activates Spellbinding Circle to stops the attack and reduce its ATK to 800. Joey activates Hinotama, dropping Yami's Life Points to 1500.
- Yugi convinces Yami to let him take over. He activates Exchange. Joey sees Red-Eyes B. Dragon, which helps regular Joey fight Marik's control. Marik tells him to take Red-Eyes, but he instead takes Card Destruction while Yugi takes Magical Arm Shield. Yugi Tributes his two monsters to Summon Red-Eyes. It destroys Alligator Sword and drops Joey's Life Points to 2400.
- Joey activates Hinotama, dropping Yugi's Life Points to 1000. He then Summons Rocket Warrior and activates Attrition, reducing Red-Eyes's ATK to 900. He then attacks with Rocket Warrior, dropping its ATK even further to 400.
- On Yugi's turn, Red-Eyes B. Dragon's ATK returns to 900. Yugi Sets a card and Summons Beta The Magnet Warrior.
- Joey Summons Panther Warrior. Marik tells him to attack Red-Eyes with it, but instead, Joey attacks Beta with Rocket Warrior. Yugi activates Magical Arm Shield, redirecting the attack to Panther Warrior, dropping its ATK to 0.
- Yugi Tributes Beta to Summon Archfiend of Gilfer. It destroys Rocket Warrior, dropping Joey's Life Points to 1700.
- Joey Sets two cards as Panther Warrior's ATK returns to 500.
- Yugi attacks, but Joey activates Graceful Dice and Skull Dice. Yugi, however, cancels Graceful Dice with De-Spell. Joey only rolls a two with Skull Dice. This reduces Archfiend of Gilfer's ATK to 1100, but it still has more ATK than Panther Warrior, who is destroyed and Joey's Life Points drop to 1100. Yugi Sets a card.
- Joey activates Meteor of Destruction, paying 500 Life Points to inflict 1000 points of damage to Yugi. However, he breaks free of Marik's control, and Yugi activates Mystical Refpanel. Yugi, not wanting to see Joey die, decides to target the effect of Meteor of Destruction at himself, dropping his Life Points to 0 and opening Joey's key. However, Joey realizes Meteor of Destruction can force an opponent's monster to attack. He orders Red-Eyes B. Dragon to attack him, wiping out his Life Points as well and opening Yugi's key. With the help of Serenity and Seto, Yugi, Joey, and Tea are all saved.
