Q&A Rulings

  • Q: When Normal Summoning a monster using the effect of "Arrivalrivals", can I Tribute Summon a Level 5 or higher monster?
A: When Normal Summoning a monster using the effect of "Arrivalrivals", you can Normal Summon a Level 5 or higher monster. If you do, you must Tribute a monster(s) for it as usual.[1]
  • Q: If I have already Normal Summoned/Set twice this turn using the effect of "Double Summon", can I activate "Arrivalrivals" during the Battle Phase?
A: Normal Summoning with the effect of "Arrivalrivals" can be done independent of the Normal Summon/Set each player is allowed per turn. Therefore, even if you are allowed 2 Normal Summons/Sets due to the effect of "Double Summon", you can still activate "Arrivalrivals" during the Battle Phase and Normal Summon an additional monster.[2]
A: When Normal Summoning a monster using the effect of "Arrivalrivals", if you Normal Summon a "Metaphys" monster, you can also apply the effect of "Metaphys Factor" and Normal Summon without Tributing.[3]
  • Q: When a Normal Summon is performed using the effect of "Arrivalrivals", can I activate "Solemn Judgment" and negate the Summon?
A: When "Arrivalrivals" is activated, the Normal Summon is performed immediately after it resolves. Therefore, if "Arrivalrivals" was activated as Chain Link 1, "Solemn Judgment" can be activated to negate the Summon. (If "Arrivalrivals" was activated as Chain Link 2 or higher, the Summon is performed while still resolving a Chain, and "Solemn Judgment" cannot negate it.)[4]
