Q&A Rulings
- Q: "Fire Prison" is face-up in the Field Zone, and there are no Link Monsters on the field. In this case, can either player Link Summon?
- A: The effect of "Fire Prison" prevents players from Link Summoning monsters with a lower Link Rating than a Link Monster on the field. Therefore, if there are no Link Monsters on the field, neither player is affected by that effect of "Fire Prison". (Once a Link Monster is Special Summoned, the effect of "Fire Prison" will start applying.)[1]
- Q: "Fire Prison" is face-up in the Field Zone, and there are no Link Monsters on the field. In this case, while the effects of "Fire Prison" are applying, can monsters other than Link Monsters attack?
- A: The part of the effect of "Fire Prison" preventing non-Link Monsters from attacking is applied even if there are no Link Monsters on the field. In this scenario, any non-Link Monsters on the field cannot attack.[2]
- Q: If my opponent declares an attack with "Dual Assembwurm", but I activate "Metaverse" and use its effect to activate "Fire Prison" from my Deck, what happens to the attack?
- A: In this scenario, once "Fire Prison" is activated from the Deck by the effect of "Metaverse", its effect prevents non-Link Monsters from attacking. The attack declared by "Dual Assembwurm" stops, and damage calculation is not performed.[3]
- Q: "Decode Talker" and "Encode Talker" are in my Monster Zone, and the "●" effects of a "Fire Prison" in the Field Zone are applied. In this situation, if I take battle damage and activate the effect of an "Interrupt Resistor" in my hand, will it be negated by the effect of "Fire Prison"?
- A: The effect of "Fire Prison" negates the activated effects of Cyberse-Type monsters, including on the field, in the hand or Graveyard, etc. Therefore, in this scenario, the effect of "Interrupt Resistor" is negated. (The "Interrupt Resistor" whose effect was negated remains in your hand.)[4]
