Q&A Rulings
- Q: While "Grave Protector" is on the field, if "Serpentine Princess" is destroyed during the Battle Phase and returned from the field to the Deck, does its effect activate?
- A: In this scenario, the effect of "Serpentine Princess" will activate.[2]
- Q: If "Solemn Strike", or the effect of "Invoked Mechaba", is activated in Chain to the effect of "Serpentine Princess", how does the effect resolve?
- A: In both cases, since the activation of the effect of "Serpentine Princess" was negated, "Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower monster from your Deck" is not applied, but "Serpentine Princess" remains in the Deck.
Similarly, if the effect of "Solemn Strike" or "Invoked Mechaba" is activated in Chain to the following monster effects activated in the Deck or Extra Deck, those monsters are not destroyed or banished:

- When "Serpentine Princess" is returned to the Deck by an effect occurring in a chain, the effect of "Serpentine Princess" starts a new Chain after the current Chain resolves completely.
- If the effect of "Fiber Jar" places "Serpentine Princess" from the field into your Deck, the effect of "Serpentine Princess" is activated and will be applied after the effect of "Fiber Jar" has finished resolving.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Light and Darkness Dragon: “Light and Darkness Dragon” will negate the activation of “Serpentine Princess’” effect when the face-up “Serpentine Princess” is sent from the field to the Deck. (“Serpentine Princess” remains in the Deck)
