The '''Extra Deck''' (Japanese: エクストラデッキ ''Ekusutora Dekki'', abbreviated {{Ruby|EX|エクストラ}}デッキ in [[card text]] since ''[[Code of the Duelist]]''), formerly known as the '''Fusion Deck''' ({{Ruby|融|ゆう}}{{Ruby|合|ごう}}デッキ ''Yūgō Dekki''), is a Deck where [[Fusion Monster|Fusion]], [[Synchro Monster|Synchro]], [[Xyz Monster|Xyz]], and [[Link Monster]]s are stored during a [[Duel]]; [[Pendulum Monster]]s that would otherwise have been sent from the [[field]] to the [[Graveyard]] are also sent to the Extra Deck face-up instead.

The Extra Deck is separate from the [[Main Deck]] and is placed face-down in the [[Extra Deck Zone]]. Like the Main Deck, the number of cards in the Extra Deck is [[public knowledge]]. Unlike the Main Deck, a player may look through their own Extra Deck at any time. The face-down contents of the Extra Deck are not public knowledge, so a player may not look through face-down cards in their opponent's Extra Deck; however, the face-up cards in the Extra Deck are public knowledge, so either player may look through them at any time.<ref>{{cite book  |author=Konami |title=Yu-Gi-Oh! The '''Extra Deck''' (エクストラデッキ, Ekusutoradekki; Chinese: 特別牌組 ''Tèbié Páizǔ'' "Particular Deck"), previously referred to as '''Fusion Deck''' ({{Ruby|融|ゆう}}{{Ruby|合|ごう}}デッキ ''Yūgō Dekki''), is a Deck where [[Fusion Monster]]s, [[Synchro Monster]]s, and [[Xyz Monster]]s, as well as [[Pendulum Monster]]s that would have been otherwise sent from the [[Playing Field|field]] to the [[Graveyard]], are stored during a [[Duel]]. They are separate from the [[Main Deck]] (minus Pendulum Monsters), and you can search through it to find a Fusion Monster, Synchro Monster, or Xyz Monster that you need. There is a 15-card limit to the Extra Deck, regardless of how many Fusion Monsters, Synchro Monsters, or Xyz Monsters you include. Pendulum Monsters placed on top of the Extra Deck by the game mechanics are not counted for the 15-card limit. The "[[Maximum of 3 Rule]]" for cards of the same name still applies.
* The Deck must be constructed using only card product provided at the event.

* There is no limit on the number of cards with the same name that can be included in the player's Decks.

==== [[Speed Duel]] ====
+
If a Fusion Monster, Synchro Monster, or Xyz Monster that is on the field, in the [[Graveyard]], or [[banish]]ed is [[return]]ed to its [[owner]]'s [[hand]] or Deck, it is instead sent to the Extra Deck, since Fusion Monsters, Synchro Monsters, and Xyz Monsters cannot exist in either the hand or the Main Deck.
* The Extra Deck can include up to 6 cards.

* The Extra Deck can only include cards with the [[Speed Duel Logo]].

* The Extra Deck cannot include [[Skill Card]]s.

* The [[Main Deck]], [[Side Deck]], and Extra Deck combined can include up to 3 copies of any [[Unlimited]] card.

* The combined Decklist, including the Skill Card, can include up to 1 [[Limited 1]] card (in total), 2 [[Limited 2]] cards (in total), and 3 [[Limited 3]] cards (in total).

The contents of your Extra Deck are not [[public knowledge]] to your opponent, and only you may look through its contents. During a Duel, the Extra Deck is placed face-down in the [[Extra Deck Zone]].
* The Extra Deck can include up to 15 cards.

* The player can choose to not include an Extra Deck.

* The Extra Deck can only include ''Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel'' cards.

** The Extra Deck cannot include [[Main Deck]] cards.

* The [[Main Deck]], [[Side Deck]], and Extra Deck combined can include up to three copies of any [[Unlimited]] card.

** If a [[Forbidden]], [[Limited]], or [[Semi-Limited]] List is used, the number of copies must not exceed those requirements.

* The Main Deck and Extra Deck combined can include a maximum of 1 Legend Card of each card type ([[Monster Card|Monster]], [[Spell Card|Spell]], and [[Trap Card|Trap]]).<ref name="YGOrg 10-31-22">{{cite web | url = https://ygorganization.com/rush-duel-change-to-how-legends-work/ | title = <nowiki>[RUSH DUEL] Change To How Legends Work</nowiki> | author = NeoArkadia | website = The Organization | date = October 31, 2022 | accessdate = October 31, 2022}}</ref>

Any card or [[card effect]]s that still refer to the Fusion Deck now apply to the Extra Deck.
Limits on the number of cards that are stored in the Extra Deck in the anime and manga are not yet determined. It is also not clear at all times of the series if the Extra Deck even exists; in many early Duels, the players seem to simply fuse monsters without ever apparently pulling the Fusion Monster card from anywhere.

It is also not clear at all times where the Extra Deck is kept:

* In ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! GX]]'', Fusion Monster Cards are not seen to be played from anywhere, but the Fusion Monster Card is present on the Duel Disk after it is Summoned.

** [[Zane Truesdale]]'s Fusion Deck is shown to be mixed in with his Main Deck; on one occasion, he searches his Main Deck for "[[Chimeratech Overdragon (anime)|Chimeratech Overdragon]]" when [[Fusion Summon]]ing it.<ref name="gx ep 65">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh! GX|65|ref}}</ref>

* In ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's]]'', [[Akiza Izinski]] can clearly be seen to have an [[Extra Deck Zone]] built into her Duel Disk. [[Yusei Fudo]] and [[Jack Atlas]]'s Extra Decks are stored with their [[Main Deck]]s; both are shown adding "[[Stardust Dragon (anime)|Stardust Dragon]]" to their Main Decks before a Duel.<ref name="5ds ep 4">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's|4|ref}}</ref><ref name="5ds ep 23">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's|23|ref}}</ref>

* In ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL]]'', the Extra Deck is stored in a box on the Duelist's belt.

* In ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V]]'', Duel Disks are specifically shown to have an Extra Deck Zone compartment.

** In [[Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V - Episode 134|Episode 134]], there are 15 cards [[face-down]] behind "[[Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (anime)|Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon]]" and "[[Performapal Coin Dragon (anime)|Performapal Coin Dragon]]". This number matches the Extra Deck limit in the ''TCG'' and ''OCG''.

* In ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS]]'', [[Yusaku Fujiki]] adds the "[[Borreload Furious Dragon (anime)|Borreload Furious Dragon]]" that [[Roken Kogami]] gives him to his Main Deck. When "[[Firewall Dragon (anime)|Firewall Dragon]]", a [[Link Monster]], was resonating in the anime, a slot on the back of his Duel Disk glows blue, suggesting it may be the Extra Deck. During his final Duel with [[Ai]], Playmaker used exactly 15 Extra Deck monsters.
