Forum:Celestia, Lightsworn Angel vs. Magical Dimension

The situation:

Problem: My opponent claims that I have to choose the cards to destroy when I activate Celestia's effect, but I thought that I have to choose it when her effect resolves. I thought her effect is of the type where I pay the cost to activate; then if my opponent chains, his card's effect resolves first; then I get to choose what to destroy. I'm basically asking when I have to choose the targets for Celestia's effect - when I activate the card or later when the effect is to be resolved? I hope I asked that correctly. Thanks!

I'm not too sure about this but I think the effect of Celestia would resolve first, however you can only destroy cards during the time you activated like your opponent said.(Similar to Mystical Space Typhoon I'd think.) OsmiuMap 04:34, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Not sure but I think Celestia, Lightsworn Angel targets on summon.Skavinger 05:12, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Almost everytime a destruction effect takes place, you have to choose the targets when you activate them. If the opponent chooses to chain those cards or do something else which makes the targets vanish, you're just SOL. Danny Lilithborne 18:16, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Alright cool, but Celestia's effect still goes through after I activated it right? So the set monster is still destroyed right? Thanks. Subcontinental86 18:46, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Nabbed from the #REDIRECT Priority page (cause I was reading it today)... "Always remember that Monster Effects, unless they specify otherwise, can have their effects resolved without being present on the field." So because you targeted on summon the effect would still resolve, whether or not the lightsworn card is on the field (can't remember what you said it was called... being lazy with this post :P hopefully I've been a help though Radaeron 19:50, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • From your story, you didn't declare the targets when you sent the cards from the top of your deck, which you cannot do. You need to declare your targets before the opponent can respond. Danny Lilithborne 20:31, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Yes, I did do it wrong. Thanks for all the help! This topic can be closed now. Subcontinental86 20:52, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
