Forum:Duel Terminal QR codes?

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Several articles (such as Duel Terminal - Preview) mention very faint QR codes at the center of Duel Terminal cards. Could anyone upload an image showing one of these codes (and in the meantime, could someone confirm whether these are QR Codes, and if so, what information do they actually encode)? Are they unique per individual card, or is the same code used for all of one card in a set (in which case, should we document these in the same way we document passcodes and passcodes)? ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:55, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

I don't see it... so I scanned the card, and I still don't see it... Is it from an official source? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 05:10, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
I have no idea... It may show up under a blacklight, though. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:15, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
The earliest mention I could find on-wiki, though, is this edit on Duel Terminal - Synchro Awakening!!, made by Pizzaman (talk contribs) on March 30, 2008. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:38, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
A few other sites say it (most were copied from another site, and so on), but I don't see anything Official. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 05:48, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
This search tuns up [1], which suggests shining bright light onto the cards to view the codes. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:08, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
A scanner's light is bright isn't it?, but that didn't show it.
Even with an LED torch (13 LEDs, and new batteries) I still don't see anything... (I can see the texture of the film on the card though, but that covers the whole card)
I'm looking at Duel Terminal 2 (TCG) cards, and that page says they're there. Maybe it's JP card only? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 06:37, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
I just found my one and only DT-JP card... and, you guessed it, I still don't see it, scanned or torched. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 07:19, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Do you have a blacklight handy to try? If they're there, they may show up with it. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:21, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
No backlights, but that gave me an idea, and I tested it and I see it!!! Finally!!!
I'll try scan it like that... -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 07:57, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Cool! Instructions? =) Also, which DT-JP card is it that you have? I'm wondering if the QR codes are the same between the JP and EN cards... ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:04, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Look at the back of the card; shine a torch from the front. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 08:11, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Really? I wonder how they'd have to be printed to achieve that... Now that you know where to look and what to look for, are you able to make out the code unaided? ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:12, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Shining at the back, and looking at the front shows nothing special.
Shining at the front, and looking at the back shows the code.
Nothing at the front, and looking at the back shows nothing special (or at least, I don't see it without the torch), if I did... I could cheat if I didn't use sleeves xD -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 08:21, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Interesting, so they're printed on the card backs. I'd assumed they were printed on the front. Now, hurry up and figure out how to scan one; I wanna see a picture! =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:23, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Worm Linx DT02-EN029 on the left. United We Stand DT06-JP042 on the right.
For reference that's where it is on the back.

Here's Worm Lynx's code Can someone check it, and read it? (The online readers I'm using aren't working...) (either I made a mistake in copying it, or the readers aren't working)
That's the best I can make the scans. In a dark room, shining the torch, it's quite clear, but a bit small.
The scanner is bright, so torch light on the front minus the scanner's light on back = scan result. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 09:20, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Very interesting; it looks like the codes are actually lightly embossed into the card (and on that note, do they get any more distinguishable if you angle the torch relative to the card?). Now I'm going to have to find a description of the code format and see if I can manually make heads or tails of the codes, if online readers aren't working for it. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:12, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Angling the torch doesn't change it, looks exactly the same. Maybe they printed the code on the card first, then printed the backing over it. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 22:48, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Aah, I see. Would you mind uploading the QR Codes for the rest of your cards on Photobucket? ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:30, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Those are my only 2 DT cards; had them imported for specific decks (There are no Duel Terminals in AUS) -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 06:00, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Okay then, sorry about that (didn't know you were an Aussie ^_^;; ). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:02, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
So, you don't have access to DT cards for the same/similar reason?
pizzaman seems to know quite a bit on the codes... but his posts on them are like, 3 years old. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 06:27, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Nope, I'm in the U.S. myself, but I don't have the good fortune of being able to attend conventions, and don't have the spare cash to buy any online. =/
It doesn't surprise me he seems to know something about them, since (as I pointed out above) he seems to be the one to have originally added any info about them to the wiki. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:38, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
