I'm not sure why, but I've been really interested in making a deck based around Gaia Drake. Thing is, I'm completely stumped on how to do it. I've got two ideas: rapid summoning with Summoner of Illusions, or exploiting the non-Effect Monster support that have come out to protect my Synchros long enough to Fusion into Gaia Drake. Either way, Gaia Drake is going to be my main goal, and locking the opponent down with Royal Decree and other such cards are a must. So, any suggestions about this deck would be appreciated. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 01:19, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Huh. Summoner of Illusions really does combo well with Gaia Drake's "can't be destroyed by the effect of an effect monster" effect. I'd focus on that, maybe with a Scapegoat and some Dandylions to maintain your card advantage. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 01:39, August 25, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
I thought we agreed that you weren't going to offer any "help" on my decks, anymore?
I think I know what you're talking about with keeping advantage with the tokens, but here's what I'm worried about: the tokens are extremely weak, more than one is summoned at a time, and Summoner of Illusions needs to be reset each time I want to use his effect, so there's way too much danger of the opponent hitting them hard before I can get Gaia Drake out. I'm just not comfortable leaving myself open, like that. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 02:51, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Ultimate Axon Kicker would be broken if you could summon it like that : / --Helix-king (talkcontribs) 02:52, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I find it odd that Gaia Drake is the only one that has no restriction on how it's summoned from the Extra Deck, though I think the fact that it just protects itself from monster effects, and doesn't do anything else, is part of that reason. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 02:58, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

I think you'll want the basic Trap Line-up, 1 Mirror Force, 1 Call of the Haunted, 2 Bottomless Trap Holes, maybe Trap Dustshoot and Torrential, and perhaps replace the Decrees with Trap Stuns. I suggest you use 3 Dark Bribes so Drake will only be beatable in battle. 2-3 Book of Moons should help with Summoner of Illusions. I don't think you should use Large Heat Wave at three, since it can mess with Summoner of Illusions and Gaia Drake. Flamvell Guard is a decent LV1 Tuner with 2000 Def, so he can help. I also think you should use Stranger's Compensation/Common Charity for Draw Power. It's a really good idea and concept, so work with it. --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 03:16, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

I think Stranger's Compensation would work best, since I can combo it with Miracle Synchro Fusion, should I need to summon Gaia Drake properly as a backup. Large Heat Wave I'm not going to use with Summoner of Illusions; as I said, this deck will either be abusing Summoner's effect to bring Gaia Drake out in an instant, or summon it normally, and use Large Heat Wave and similar Effect Monster counters to protect my Synchros and compensate for the longer time it'll take to summon Gaia Drake. To be honest, though, I'm leaning toward the latter strategy; it would be too easy and predictable to go the Summoner Abuse route, and surprising the opponent with a Synchro Summon under the influence of Large Heat Wave would be priceless. Also, Flamvell Guard wouldn't really jive with Leodrake; believe me, I thought about using Enchanting Fitting Room with Large Heat Wave, but the other Normal Tuners don't have the Attribute necessary for summoning Leodrake. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 03:44, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, so here's my initial version of this deck. It's nowhere near perfect, I know, but at least it's something. Again, any suggestions on how to make this work, just let me know. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 02:32, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

Monster Reborn? Justi-Break??? --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 22:10, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
