Forum:How necessary is Zombie and Gardna in a Lightsworn deck?

My girlfriend picked up the Dragon's Collide deck and it just isn't working for her. I am even having trouble playing it. As such, she wants to create a Lightsworn deck because she does like the Lightsworn portion, and also because three of our friends use dragons, so she does not want to play a dragon deck. I've gone through several different old discussion topics on a Lightsworn deck and helped her put together one based on the cards we have, but the cards we do not have that seem to show up in every deck are Plaguespreader Zombie and Necro Gardna. How important are they to this deck? Is it that vital to have them? Thanks in advance.

I don't particularly play Lightsworn but as with any other deck, I've faced it irl as well as virtually tested it...most of these types of decks generate frequent advantage for thier hand so it makes plaguespreader easy to use, not to mention that most use minimal traps so then well you aren't as likely to have a reduced hand size.

Necro Gardna's inclusion I say is directly proportional to how important you think using Wulf, Lightsworn Beast is. In other words, the "sackier" you want to be, the more of them you use. I suppose it also helps with Chaos builds as a removal option but I don't see the point. If it were to be a pure build, I just say use Lightsworn Barrier and that's where people say "that's what gardna is there for". Gardna allows well...topdecking or a quick set up on Celestia, Lightsworn Angel while LB gives (risky) speed and a target for your opponent's mst that is not a staple trap :p

Yeah so again, don't really play them so my opinion isn't too good but I've seen enough to form some sort of ideas. 173.75.82.74 (talk) 17:58, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, we put an barrier trap in her deck.

Funny enough, we don't have any Celestia's either.

As for Wulf, we put both of what we had in there.

IMO, Celestia's pretty close to necessary... It's potency went down now that Solemn Warning and Starlight Road are commonplace, but it's destruction effect is killer and immediately milling 4 let's you work with your ditched cards that turn (intend of having to wait for next turn like you have to when they mill at the end phase). Plaguespreader Zombie and Necro Gardna are great (and I personally really like Gardna) but I wouldn't call them necessary, especially since they're likely to get removed from play and not be a useful chaos target. In pure swords I would highly recommend gardna, though; it saves your Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner (which is back to 2:D) all day long. Brakedamold (talkcontribs) 22:39, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

Irony, here am I, asking about Lightsworns, and I go onto DN and my Nordic Deck got its butt handed to it by a Lightsworn deck.  :-p

Let's just say that after that, I was able to really help my g/f make a good deck based on what I saw that user use.

The fact is they are very useful, Zombie gives access to Synchros, like Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier and Ally of Justice Catastor. Garnda is just useful for saving your weaker LS monsters for later, or just plain stopping you from losing. Personally, their both accepted as Staples for LS deck, but you can always travel the more beaten path, I personally like them, they have both been useful for me, and Chaos builds do remove Gardna, when a BLS play can win them the game and is supported by a JD play. ---Crimson Joker (Talk) 01:55, March 8, 2012 (UTC)
