Forum:I have a problem with D.D. Sprite

I want to argue with the ruling about it not returning the monster if it's not face-up. Monster effects DO NOT need the monster to be on the field to work. If this was true, Stardust Dragon would not return from the graveyard as it would not be on the field, so it's effect to special summon itself couldn't activate. Even if you say it's part of the effect which tributed it in the first place, I can also argue that returning the monster from Banish was part of the effect of D.D. Sprite that special summoned it in the first place and thus, if the effect to special summon it resolved, D.D. Sprite does NOT need to be on the field for the rest of the effect to finish, though I do think it's fair for the opponent to have normal timing to respond to the summoning of that monster IE: the ability to chain BTH or Warning to it.

I really DO NOT understand those rulings, since they contradict the way other cards that do much the same things are handled! What is up with this?? Snowpaw (talkcontribs) 19:07, December 15, 2011 (UTC)

Because its text is really poor, it should say, "If you do, return the removed from play monster to the field during the next Standby Phase, if this card still face-up on the field."-- (talkcontribs) 23:09, December 15, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks...now if that was on the actual card, I wouldn't have picked it in my deck on Tag Force 6...Why can't they follow Magic and rule the card as it's read? Even if that breaks the card (which it does NOT. This card isn't very powerful and losing a monster for 1 turn doesn't create any broken combos in my mind). Thanks...
