Forum:Inverse of Synchros

First of all, full credit to Raventheblack for having thought of this idea first. I took his idea from this forum.

Now, what idea is this that I'm referring to? A Dark Synchro deck! With all the monsters now set for release as regular synchro monsters in either the TCG or OCG, now is a great time to construct a deck around these embodiments of evil - specifically, four such embodiments: Dark Diviner, Frozen Fitzgerald, Underground Arachnid, and Zeman the Ape King!

So, basically the idea is to bring out the very powerful Dark Synchro monsters ASAP. I'm going to subvert my usual order of explanation here and start with the synchros that I'm so interested in.

  • First of all is Dark Diviner, a 2000 ATK level 4 Fiend that cannot be destroyed by battle, end of story. However, when it attacks an opponent's monster and that monster's ATK is higher than Diviner's, that monster gets brought down to Diviner's ATK strength - so it can basically destroy anything by battle. Plus it mills the opponent's deck when this happens, à la Iron Chain Dragon. It requires a DARK Tuner and an Insect non-tuner.
  • Frozen Fitzgerald is a 2500 ATK, 2500 DEF level 5 Fiend. It gains an Ancient Gear effect when it attacks, suppressing spells and traps. Meanwhile, if it's destroyed by battle while it's the only monster I control, it can special summon itself in DEF position for the cost of one card from my hand. This guy requires a DARK tuner combined with a Beast non-tuner.
  • Underground Arachnid is a level 6 Insect with a good 2400 ATK. It also suppresses spells and traps when it attacks. Additionally, I can select one of my opponent's monsters once per turn, and equip it to this card - and, if this card would be destroyed by battle, the equipped monster is destroyed instead! Like Dark Diviner, this thing needs a DARK tuner and an Insect non-tuner.
  • Finally we have Zeman the Ape King. It's a mean 2500 ATK level 7 Beast with the same Ancient Gear-esque effect as the previous two. Meanwhile, it can negate any of my opponent's attacks by sending one monster I control or that is in my hand to the graveyard. Pretty great. This has the same summoning requirements as Fitzgerald - a DARK tuner, and a Beast non-tuner.

The rest of the extra deck is fairly standard - not that worth mentioning - so, without further ado, let's get to the monsters!

Junk Synchron comes first, and it's more or less the key card in this deck. It can instantly get me Dark Diviner or Frozen Fitzgerald. Dark Bug is next, and it combos with JS to get me Diviner. The great thing is that Junk can revive Bug AND vice-versa, so Dark Diviner is really accessible. Next, I have three copies of Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. Not only do they get revival targets into the graveyard, but the Rykos THEMSELVES are targets for Junk Synchron, and combo with them for an easy Frozen Fitzgerald.

Two Hamsters come next - they not only search out Ryko, but combine with Junk Synchron for a Zeman. Next is a bizarre-looking choice - Des Mosquito! It buffs itself up to 1500 ATK easily, and can keep itself alive for a fair bit. Moreover, it's my pathway to Underground Arachnid via Junk Synchron. Debris Dragon comes in next, and it can revive any one of Dark Bug, Ryko, or Mosquito for synchro summons. I've also got Dandylion, an amazing card by any standard, as another target for my Debris. Mystic Tomato searches Dark Bug, Junk Synchron, and Des Mosquito - only the Mosquito gets its effect, but the Tomatos are still worth it. Sangan is another great searcher, bringing literally any monster in my deck to my hand. Finally, I've got a Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind. It allows me to halve stuff, and works as another DARK tuner.

My first spell is three of Pot of Duality - a pretty important card, as it lends me easy access to what I need. Two Tunings mean I've got a great chance at having Junk Synchron in any given opening hand. MST at two is a standard staple card, but I've taken this hatred of spells and traps further with two Noblemen of Extermination. They can deal with at least one, and possibly up to three, potential threats. Pot of Avarice should be fairly useful, given the speed at which I go through my deck. Dark Hole and Monster Reborn are standard staples. Enemy Controller blocks attacks and can make use of excess monsters; Foolish Burial mills key targets when I need them milled; and finally, an Allure of Darkness provides good draw power in a deck with 12 DARK monsters.

My trap line-up consists of three Royal Decree. These allow me to deal with threats that would prevent my synchro summons. It actually works really well with my Noblemen of Extermination because there's little chance of any backfiring. If I do remove a Decree and get stripped of all the ones in my deck... well, it's no great loss, seeing as how my opponent probably is not using trap cards anyways.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck! Runer5h (talkcontribs) 04:38, December 3, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

It seems good to me, but if you're making a deck with the dark synchro monsters, you left out Dark Flat Top, Moon Dragon Quilla, and Hundred-Eyes Dragon. 205.200.78.138 (talk) 12:40, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Yes I did - deliberately. Dark Flat Top strictly supports Reactors, so that's out. Moon Dragon Quilla requires a tuner that is incompatible with any other Dark Synchro. As for Hundred-Eyes Dragon, I thought I might want to use it, but honestly it doesn't seem worth the effort to summon it. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 20:14, December 3, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
