Anyone else think that Leviair the Sea Dragon has kind of ruined what it means to be banished? Banishing a card used to be the only way to get rid of it permanently (unless you were against a rogue deck like Macro or Generation Fish), but Leviair being splashable has taken that away from the game. Wind-Up Hunter and Inzektor Hornet are now no longer foiled by D.D. Crow. I think that it would have been fair if Leviair could only bring back Fish, Aqua or Sea Serpents, or required those types as Xyz Materials, but as it is, it's simply altered the game drastically in a way it shouldn't have. Anyone with me here? Battlemaniac (talkcontribs) 20:41, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Used to be the only way to get rid of something permanently....in 2003. You forget other cards that abuse the Banish zone. Leviair was not the first. --> Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 20:44, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Either that or is that just me; Battlemaniac is like... 9 years late to the party? --FredCat 20:47, April 9, 2012 (UTC)
  • ^ This is what I was thinking. Banishing cards hasn't been a way to "get rid of a card permanently" in years.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 20:51, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, but those cards are far less splashable, and even the ones that are take up valuable deck space. Most decks nowadays can run Leviair without changing their normal strategy one tiny bit. Battlemaniac (talkcontribs) 20:54, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

I ran into Macro Deck often and it treated me like scrapbag when I had no revive from the banish zone (Return from the Different Dimension, D.D. Survivor, etc.) as well as not own a Leviair at that point. But yea, back when "D.D. Warrior" was releasing - it's permanent, but now they can break the ruling - much like with "Magic the Gathering", as Swamp monsters gained "Deathtouch" that can break the ruling of battle; if it attacked a monster while there are two, the second monster dead immediately. --FredCat 20:58, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Well battlemaniac is saying that just about every deck has a spot reserved for leviair. Tour Guide makes it super easy to get out. Yeah there have been tons of cards that bring banished cards back, but now almost every deck runs cards to get those banished monsters back, making the value of banishing a monster a lot less valuable. This is pretty much undeniable. I hadn't thought about it before, but leviair might get limited or even banned at some point. It is an enabler for ridiculously broken plays (such as the agent otk with gold sarc) Trak0don (talkcontribs) 02:02, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

  • Highly highly doubtful. And Agents are dead. The biggest Leviair plays tend to come from Rabbit these days, and it's defo not ban worthy.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 02:04, April 10, 2012 (UTC)
