As in, you have three copies of "Machina Fortress" in your hand, and you want to discard all three of them to Special Summon all three of them? That isn't possible, since you can't share costs. If you discard cards for the Summoning Condition of one copy, then you can't have them count towards the Summoning Condition of the other one.

Also note that, like Ritual Monsters, you shouldn't be able to discard more monsters than necessary.

I think a better explanation is this: You remember how some cards used to say "Monsters used for a Tribute Summon or that are offered as Tributes due to other card's effects are excluded."? Well It was so you wouldn't try something like this, but over the years Konami stopped printing that because players understand it now. Also you can discard any number of machines as long as they are 8 and up in level, wether it is 8 or 80, same with rituals, "You must also Tribute monsters from the field or your hand whose total Levels equal ? or more."--Helix-king 04:54, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

You can't Tribute more monsters than necessary for a Ritual Summon. It's been ruled this way in both _CGs since time immemorial. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 18:26, March 8, 2010 (UTC)
