It's been an incredibly long time since I quit dueling for a while, and I find some of the cards I use in my side-decks are pretty mediocre against the competitive deck types I sometimes face. So now I wonder, what cards do you think are most useful in a side-deck? OsmiuMap 22:21, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Well...
Side decks always depend on the deck you run, and the decks the opposition runs. So, telling you which cards to include is pretty much useless, since I could tell you i.e. to include Deck Lockdown to cripple GBs but maybe you run GBs too! So, I can only give you some general advice:
- First of all, include 5 cards which will support your deck by combining with it. That way, you can change deck strategy mid-match and catch your opponent unprepared.
- The rest of the cards should be counters for the best opposing decks:
- Gladiator Beasts: see here for counter cards.
- Monarchs: Pulling the Rug, By Order of the Emperor etc.
- Crystal Beasts: Macro Cosmos, any S/T removal cards.
- D.D.: Royal Impregnable Fortress, Soul Absorption etc.
- Burn: Barrel Behind the Door etc.
- Alternatively, you can just fill your side deck with staple counter cards, a strategy used by many duelists.
Find out your opponent's weaknesses and side-deck accordingly! Hope I helped! Darth Covah 23:39, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Some of the common side deck cards:
- Light-Imprisoning Mirror (For Lightsworns or anything Light)
- Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror (For Dark Armed Dragon or anything Dark)
- Kinetic Soldier (Common powerful beatstick in sticky situations)
- D.D. Crow (Common to totally mess up decks relying on the Graveyard)
- Threatening Roar (For Gladiator Beasts)
