If Obelisk's text says you MUST tribute 3 monsters in order to normal summon him, can you pay 3000 lp with mausoleum to summon it out to the field? Tiamat dragon55 02:19, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

  • Sounds like the answer to that is no if it says "must". Danny Lilithborne 06:43, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
  • Guess that makes sense.....

  • The previous poster obviously hasn't read the card which states that "You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card". obelisk is a normal summon, and the only reason that it says 3 monsters are required is because there is no rule making level 10 monsters need 3 tributes in the official rulebook. There is no rule that says that mausoleum of the emperor cannot be used on obelisk. Anyone who says that he is not able to be normal summoned is just using wishful thinking. The entire notion is based on a previous ruling by Upperdeck regarding to Gilford the lightning (which says "You can Tribute 3 monsters to Tribute Summon this card. If you do, destroy all monsters your opponent controls.") that has since been made unofficial by Konami.
And there is no rules that allow you summon Obelisk with Mausoleum.-- (talkcontribs) 14:28, September 17, 2011 (UTC)
P/S: Tribute 3 monster is Obelisk's summon condition, not game mechanic's summon condition. You can use Mausoleum to ignore game mechanic's summon condition, but not monster's summon conditon.-- (talkcontribs) 14:31, September 17, 2011 (UTC)
