Forum:Proposal to insert polls

Hello. This is a proposal to insert poll into the main page.

The idea is simple - to create polls so that people vote based on their own opinions. It is a great idea for fun and to see what most of the community thinks. Also, it could bring new editors here.

User:Energy X/Poll - this is a base page (test purpouse only).

In my opinion, it should be updated every month, similar to Featured Cards corner.

Maybe, but polls on other wikis are used to simply see who the fav character is or what book is your fav. On here, what would the poll be for? There are 4 different YGO series, then the Manga series, and there are just too many cards. I also think the main page is kinda cluttered as is. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 00:48, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

Well, it does not have to be always favourite, I can make polls that include "least favourite". But... I think there can be a link (similar to Episode corner). Energy X ∞ 07:13, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

I don't see why we need a poll; personally I've never seen the point to them on a wiki. As Dark Ace pointed out, there's also the problem of subject matter, and beyond that, what would we do with the results? Who would decide what questions would be run in the poll? How long would a question run for? Would we keep old questions up indefinitely (which would require putting each question on its own page)? Well, no need for any big fuss. Polls are a fun way to see what others mean. Some people come only for voting on the polls (not sure why). The topics range in great distances, from characters, series, cards etc.
