Hi there! So, I remember back when Duelist Pack: Kaiba was new, and Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon was released, I laughed at him. I didn't understand why you would bother, regular Blue-Eyes in a Disaster Dragon deck would be better. But recently, with the new ones in the set YMP1, I understand the point of them now, and decided to give it a shot. I'm trying to get this deck as good as possible before next Wednesday, which is when I'll be taking this to my locals. I also tried to not make it like lots of the other ones, where they're half slanted towards Geartown abuse.

Side Deck: 15

Effect Veiler x2 Kinetic Soldier x3 Nobleman of Crossout x2 My Body as a Shield x1 Mirror Force x1 Bottomless Trap Hole x2 Dark Bribe x1 Light-Imprisoning Mirror x1 Chain Disappearance x2

-Originally I had thought about doing what many do, where they run kind of a Skill Drain variant with Beast King Barbaros/Fusilier Dragon/etc. I preferred to go with this Decree build, for two main reasons: -Without Decree, my opponent is free to use his traps. Nothing's worse in this deck than Malefic World getting Dark Bribed, or setting up a big play with Paradox Dragon only to get hit by D-Prison or Mirror Force. This way, unless they have their 1 Book or something, they most likely can't stop my attacks. -Skill Drain is overrated. Yes, your monster lives when Malefic World is destroyed, but if you can MST Malefic World, you can MST Skill Drain. Plus in this build I can use Malefic Stardust to protect Malefic World.

-Another thing many Malefic duelists do is avoid the Malefics that remove from the Main Deck. While I agree Red-Eyes is horrible, the other two aren't bad. Once Malefic World and Decree are on the field, I pretty much stop drawing and just search with Malefic World. This prevents dead draws. Often after a few turns, my hand (still at 6 cards in the midgame) resembles this: x2 Malefic World, x2 Malefic Cyber End/Rainbow/Blue-Eyes/Stardust, x1 Parallel Gear, plus x1 Truth in the grave or hand.

-On to the Spells. All Malefics are dark, so Allure is general Draw Power, and I usually have a monster to spare. Even if I only have one, nobody in this deck is a critical loss when removed, since Malefic World can search out another copy next turn (except with Gear). Book is a general staple, great when I have Truth/Paradox/Cyber End out and they MST my Malefic World to negate an attack, I can flip my monster face-down. Dark Hole and Trunade are for generic field removal. Hand Destruction is amazing in this build, it can dump dead copies of regular Blue-Eyes, Terraforming after I have all 3 Worlds, and Truth since he can be summoned from the Graveyard. Hand Destruction for Malefics is like Duality for Blackwings and Gravekeeper's IMO. i could use Trade-In, but Hand has more targets. My Body is for general destruction negation, so they can't clear my field with a Fissure. Smashing Ground is to stop the opponent from walling me with the likes of Colossal Fighter, Spirit Reaper, Treeborn Frog, etc. Finally, Terraforming is to search out Malefic World, as I need it to summon monsters, I find with 3 World + 3 Terraforming + 3 Hand Destruction + 1 Allure I get it on turn one or two about 75% of the time.

-Now the Extra deck. 3 Paradox Dragon is really the only one I actually summon, so I have 3 of him. 3 Cyber Ends and 3 Stardusts are to summon their Malefic versions. Chimeratech is in there since I don't use most of my Extra deck, so I may as well have him in there to stop Machinas (Machina Fortress is a big pain against this deck). The last 5 slots are just generic synchros to fill it up.

-Side Deck time. Veiler is to stop monster-effect reliant decks, Kinetic is for Samurais. Nobleman is for decks with lots of flips, like Gravekeepers, and the third My Body is for destructive decks. The traps are for if I face a deck that doesn't really use traps, so I can side out Decree.

I encounter many Malefic decks nowadays so I can pinpoint some of their weakness and strengths:

  • MST isn't that bad. Even with traps negated your weak against "Burden of the Mighty" and an early "Field Barrier". So having a back up plan is a must (a pun? haha).
  • "Forbidden Chalice" can help Malefic momentarily swarm the field whilst having an ATK boost (an OTK). You can also use this for a pseudo-negating card, too.
  • "Necroface" can refuel Malefic decks so you can summon Malefics once again. Although this can be a double edged sword when RFG'ed... or it's just plain bad XD.
