Forum:Reactor effects?

I have a reactor deck. Trap Reactor, Spell Reactor, Summon Reactor and Flying Fortress Skyfire. I noticed the effect on the trap and spell reactors don't say "negate."

Spell reactor's effect: "Once per turn, when your opponent activates a Spell Card, you can destroy the spell card and inflict 800 damage to yoru opponent."

If my opponent activates a spell card and i have my spell reactor on the field, is the spell negated and destroyed? Or does the spell effect still apply? Because if it doesn't negate the effect, it would make my skyfire deck useless D: — This unsigned comment was made by 76.170.126.135 (talkcontribs) 03:05, 16 May 2009

In general, no. Most Spell and Trap Cards do not need to remain face-up on the field for their effects to resolve.
However, Continuous/Field/Equip Spell Cards and Continuous Trap Cards need to remain face-up on the field for their effects to resolve. If "Spell Reactor・RE" destroys such a card, then the card will resolve without effect.

i'm confused about what you said. So you're saying, if they activate a normal or quick play spell card, and i have spell reactor, the spell card's effect is still resolved? So the effect happens, but they lose 800 life points for it?

That's correct. The Horror'Speak if you dare 15:54, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
