Can Skull Lair be activated as soon as a monster is summoned? If so, if it is used on a card like Guardian Sphinx, does the effect not activate, or is it still applied? --EgyptianGods 21:21, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- When your opponent Summons a monster, you can respond with "Skull Lair". However, your opponent has Priority to activate monsters' Ignition Effects. The effect would be Step 1, and then you can chain "Skull Lair" as Step 2.
- If your opponent Normal Summons "Guardian Sphinx" and uses Priority to flip it face-down, you can use "Skull Lair" and destroy "Guardian Sphinx" before it is flipped face-down.
- If your opponent Flip Summons "Guardian Sphinx", its effect will activate and be Step 1. You can chain "Skull Lair" as Step 2, so that "Skull Lair" will destroy "Guardian Sphinx" and then "Guardian Sphinx" will send everything to your hand. It is not negated, since the effect was activated properly.
