Forum:Toon Dark Magician Girl and Magical Dimension, Also Toons and Monster Reborn

I was playing a few games and this came up quite a bit, I'm only posting here due to conflicting posts Ive seen when searching google.

On this Wiki site the tips page for Toon Dark Magician Girl states that you can use Magical Dimension to get a free attack in, also the text on the card reads: "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned while "Toon World" is on your side of the field. You can Special Summon this monster from your hand, but Tributes are required for monsters Level 5 or more."

Its says it can ONLY be summoned when toon world is on field so that is REQUIRED, I get that but next sentence says YouCAN Special Summon this monster, like I CAN choose to special sum or not, I am not required to do it.

-->So the question is, am I allowed to use Magical Dimension to summon Toon DMG?

I have read forums saying that there was a mistranslation when they converted the card or something I'm not sure. But the text on the card seems pretty clear to me.

-->Second question: Can you use monster reborn to summon cards like toon blue-eyes and dark magician girl? Using the above logic I would assume I can.—This unsigned comment was made by 108.196.133.145 (talkcontribs) 05:53, January 28, 2012 (UTC)

  • On Talk Pages and Forum Pages, it's a good practice to sign your posts. You can do that by adding four tildes (~~~~) to the end of your post and it will automatically create a signature for you when you click 'Publish'.
In the OCG:
Both "Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon" and "Toon Dark Magician Girl" are Special Summon-only monsters (Semi-Nomi), so can only be initially Special Summoned by their own Summoning Conditions.
"The Flute of Summoning Dragon" and "Magical Dimension" cannot Special Summon them from the hand.
Cards like "Monster Reborn" can Special Summon them IF they were properly Special Summoned with their own Summoning Conditions first AND if "Toon World" is on the field.
However, in the TCG, emailed rulings from Konami (which are not always flawless) contradict this:
They are not Special Summon-only monsters (not Semi-Nomi). There is no proper way to Summon a Toon Monster.
You can directly send them to the Graveyard and revive them just like regular monsters as long as "Toon World" is on the field.
If you have "Toon World", you can Summon "Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon" with "The Flute of Summoning Dragon", "Toon Dark Magician Girl" with "Magical Dimension" and "Toon Mermaid" with "Last Will"/"Mother Grizzly".
So if you play TCG, feel free to abuse and break it.

Thanks a lot for all the work you put in, any link to these e-mails? or a list I can goto? I searched like 7 pages back on google to find like a single post on toon monsters.—This unsigned comment was made by 108.196.133.145 (talkcontribs) 08:47, January 28, 2012 (UTC)

  • As mentioned above, you're supposed to sign your posts on Talk Pages and Forum Pages, just put 4 tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post and that automatically changes to the signature for you when you click 'Publish'. I've seen it before, I just needed to look for where it was just to double check.

My apologies, first time using a wiki - and thank you for the link :)
