Two questions:

1. My friend told me that you cannot use Royal Oppression to negate the effect of Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor because "that's what the ruling is". I have found no such ruling. Can you do it or not?

2. What happens if you use Divine Wrath on Vayu? Thanks in advance. Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 21:23, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

1. I think you are correct. Unless you meant it literally negates the effect. You can use royal oppression to negate the summoning of the monster but the blackwings are still removed.

2. Since you can't destroy it in the graveyard the effect will just be negated.--Moneypony (talkcontribs) 22:28, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

No you cant because the effect of vayu inst a payment so..royal oppression cant negate it...its useless..only if you want to lose life points for nothing...

2nd...Yes you can stop the effect of vayu by activating divine wrath while vayu is in the grave

Okay, but if Oppression would just be a waste, wouldn't Divine Wrath also just be a waste? Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 23:00, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

You can use Divine Wrath or Royal Oppression to negate the activation of Vayu's effect but it wont be useful because Vayu's effect remove itself from play as part of the effect not as a cost. However you can use Royal Oppression on the synchro monster's summon. Coraguardian (talkcontribs) 18:37, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you so much Coraguardian! Looks like my friend cheated me out of a duel! I could have used his Oppression to get rid of the Monster he summoned with Vayu! Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 21:03, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Incorrect: Royal Oppression negates the effect which summons, due to vayu removing & summoning at resolution, you cannot oppress it at that point. so you would pay to negate vayu removing itself, and it would remain in grave for it to be done again. IE: if the moster is summoning, it's the resolution of an effect, so you have missed the timing for Royal Oppression-82.11.158.0 (talk) 22:45, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

just to clarify: Vayu does not remove anything as a cost, the removal is part of the effect. If you can chain Royal Oppression to the effect it will "negate the effect" and nothing is removed. If you allow Vayu to resolve and special summon the Synchro Monster, the summon is successful so you can't use Royal Oppression to "negate the summon". So basically it's pointless using Oppression on Vayu. This is why Oppression is used in certain builds of Blackwing decks. Falzar FZ (talkcontribs) 03:19, July 11, 2010 (UTC)

It's worth noting, however, that Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror will work, since it is to Vayu what Wanghu is to Treeborn. Also, using cards like Macro Cosmos early and often can hurt most Vayu decks. If you're using negation on top of that, you're golden. 204.140.189.253 (talk) 18:28, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
