R5h's Opinions[edit]

Hmm, this is a tough one. I'll work through my reasoning right now.

  • Akiza (Dark Scorpions) - This one is fun. The multiple Shrink and Gale the Whirlwind are nice additions.
  • PHASE (Also Dark Scorpions): Now this one just looks much more spotty. Lots of single cards that wouldn't really work so well... and only two Reckless Greed? Travesty! Also, I see no need for all the DARK Tuners - it's not a synchro deck.
  • Bwinggale (Gardna): This was a well done deck. However, I think he missed a trick - Inverse Universe, a permanent trap-version of Shield and Sword. It could have replaced the inferior-to-Dimensional-Prison Cross Counter (it may fit with the theme, but it really isn't that good). I liked the idea of Unity for OTKs.
  • Drew-Gi-Oh (Burning Skulls): First of all... there is nothing to be said about that accent he was faking. Second of all, now that I think about it, I made those Burning Skull cards REALLY broken. And third of all, the deck looks pretty OK. Good job.
  • ME!!!!! (Trap Holes): I would like to say in advance that if I didn't get the number of exclamation points in your name correct, I don't care and won't fix it. More importantly, I was very surprised to see Elemental Hero Clayman, though I guess he works... and finally, I think you missed a trick. Treacherous Trap Hole. Due to the easy ways to get traps out of your graveyard (Grizzly, Recycling the Traps), I was expecting you to use this. But the deck is pretty neat even so.
  • Yug11-18 (B.E.S.): Playing a B.E.S. deck as aggro does not work as well as you might think, which is (I assume) what you were aiming for. I also dislike the idea of Cost Down - vehemently, as you lose two cards when you could have lost less. Magical Mallet also loses you cards, and thus isn't all that useful in this kind of deck. On the other hand...
  • Runer5h (B.E.S.): Now THIS is how it's done. I've actually used a B.E.S. deck before and it works well as control. Of course, I can't vote for myself (and none of you should do so either).
  • Gadjiltron (Burning Skulls): I prefer this deck over Drew-Gi-Oh's for two reasons. First of all, no "ghetto" slang (:P). Second of all, with Everliving Underworld Cannon and the Kurenais, this build may burn even brighter (and therefore faster) than Drew's.
  • Hpboy111 (Goblins): Yeah, sorry about the lack of puns. I dislike the idea of Meteorain, first of all, because it seems tacky to me. You could have used something like Smashing Ground, which would allow more direct shots at the LP with Decoy Squad. Other than that, it looks pretty OK to me.

Aww, they generally look so good.... Um... er... Gadjiltron! Runer5h (talkcontribs) 04:46, July 30, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Turtle's Opinions[edit]

Thank you, Runer5h for giving me permission to comment here. Now, on to the comments.

  • Akiza (Dark Scorpions #1): Why did you not add in Burden of the Mighty? I'm guessing that you want to retain the element of surprise. A very controlled deck indeed, with plenty of searchability. However, I am slightly worried about its field presence and it seems susceptible to destruction effects. Would like to see 1 more Starlight Road.
  • PHASE (Dark Scorpions #2): Your deck is all over the place. Because you spread the deck's strategy so thinly, it becomes neither a Synchro deck, nor a Dark Scorpions deck. The deck has lost its focus. Nice try.
  • Bwinggale (Gardna): First thing I would like to say is Gardna's Shield Strike cannot abuse the effect of Unity because it only inflicts half the Original DEF of all monsters you control. Also, the same thing goes for the Shield & Sword & Gear Golem the Moving Fortress combo which doesn't work too. Other than that, pretty innovative deck. It plays like a Stone Statue of the Aztecs OTK deck but with much more control and other options. Still the mistakes cost you dearly.
  • Drew-Gi-Oh (Burning Skulls #1): It took me some time to understand what you were saying with all that Ghetto talk. Volcanic Catacombs lets you special summon Burning Skull Head from the deck, not the graveyard so that strategy doesn't work. Deck strategy is pretty one-dimensional.
  • ME!!!!!!!!!! (Trap Holes): The Treacherous Trap Hole is a serious overlook as you can effectively return most of your Trap Cards to the deck. Shrink is better than Adhesion Trap Hole. The added Fusion and Synchro capabilities sounded nice but failed. 1 Miracle Fusion with 1 Clayman and 1 Rescue Cat with only 3 Beast monsters to summon (Airbellum, Grand Mole, and Des Wombat)??? That would cause a lot of dead draws.
  • Yug18-11 (B.E.S. #1): A lot of your cards like Magical Mallet, Reload, Cost Down and Warning – Enemy Approaching! will eat away at your hand pretty fast. A bit surprised that you didn't run more cards that make use of the huge no. of Machine monsters in your graveyard like Pot of Avarice and Overload Fusion. The deck's strategy is very straightforward as it relies a lot on the effect of Boss Rush to continuously bring out monsters.
  • Runer5h (B.E.S. #2): You have explained the strategy of the deck very well. Very good use of the B.E.S. monsters to create a control deck. The deck's strategy is very disruptive indeed. You even added Chimeratech Fortress Dragon for the occasional CyDra. The only nitpicking that I can find is that Pot of Duality will cut off the effect of Boss Rush but if you can use it correctly so that it adds to the consistency of the deck then it's a smart move. Every card in the deck, even the number of multiples, basically has a purpose. Would like a 2nd Battle Fader so that it can be used fairly often. I can see that you have put much thought into your deck.
  • Gadjiltron (Burning Skulls #2): Much different than the previous Burning Skulls deck. For instance, more options to burn (and no Ghetto talk). Slight miscalculation, 1 Burning Skull Head special summoned from the hand, coupled with Everliving Underworld Cannon inflicts 1800 damage!!! Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai lends so much flexibility to the decks strategy. With the capabilities to burn coming from everywhere, it will reduce the opponent's LP quickly.
  • Hpboy111 (Goblins): This doesn't seem ambitious enough to me. There's so much more that you could have done. Since you were running 3 Final Attack Orders, you could have abused its effect with Lyla or protected it with Card Guard or Imperial Order. Your cards are really susceptible to destruction, bounce and spin effects. No Stardust Dragon, Starlight Road, or even My Body as a Shield. Although your monsters do start out big, once they meet a stronger beatstick like Gorz, the deck will be struggling since you don't run much removal effects.. Furthermore if your opponent stalls, I don't see much that your deck can do about it. Also, I'm a bit doubtful about the speed of the deck. Cards like Meteorain seem a bit situational. There's not much that can help Goblin Decoy Squad attack or survive. Conclusion, the deck's strategy looks too inflexible.

This competition is fun due to the use of Dream Cards and the effort that everyone showed. A special note to Runer5h: Most of the Dream Cards are overpowered, especially the Burning Skulls.

My vote goes to...... Runer5h for his well thought out "B.E.S. Deck Ever"! (Nice pun)-- HHTurtle  (Talk) 11:10, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

I got to admit, you did make the burning skulls REALLY broken. And kudos goes to Gadjiltron, who's Deck would likely exceed my speed in burn and beatdown. Only problem I see is a Prime Material Dragon, Barrel Behind the Door, or Nature's Reflection. Drew-Gi-Oh! (talkcontribs) 05:49, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Also: Sorry for all the Ghetto Talk, it was just the way to introduce my Deck that I thought most..unqiue. And it turns out it was. Drew-Gi-Oh! (talkcontribs) 05:52, August 2, 2010 (UTC)
