Of note, an Xyz Summon performed using monsters that have been [[Pendulum Summon]]ed is referred to as a "Pendulum-Xyz Summon", and [[Shay Obsidian]] also refers to an Xyz Summon performed using both an Xyz Monster and a non-Xyz Monster as materials as a "[[Cross Xyz Summon]]".
In ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS]]'', the entire sequence is remade: when the Duelist declares the that they are overlayingtheir monsters, lightning crackles from them before an a blue X-shaped cybernetic array (somewhat similar in design to the [[Link Summon]]ing circuitCircuit) with four small red circles between the spokes materializes behind them. The Xyz Materials fly inside this structure, disperse into coloured particles and enter the red circles and once they are set, datastream-like energy flows out in front of from the Duelist tips and forms the galaxy-style portal (though Overlay Network, now entirely colored light blue), from which the newly formed Xyz Monster emerges. The process is reminiscent of a sci-fi device being used to open a wormhole.
