Re: Conflicting Story[edit]
Regarding Sugoroku's story early in the manga about archaeologists finding the Millennium Puzzle, and how it conflicts with the later story that Sugoroku himself found it in his youth.
It's possible that, in-universe, Sugoroku decided not to tell Yugi about his role in acquiring it, and told the conflicting story as a cover.
Of course, this would count as a retcon out-of-universe, since I honestly doubt that Takahashi-sensei was thinking that far ahead when he had Sugoroku tell the conflicting story, but it WOULD make sense for it to be such.
