Ai activates the effect of "Ignister A.I.Land" for the third time, Special Summoning "Pikari" again. Then he activates the effect of "Dark Templar @Ignister" as a monster was Special Summoned to a zone that it points to, Special Summoning as many "@Ignister" monsters from his Graveyard as possible to zones that his Link Monster points to. He resurrects "Doyon" and "Bururu", and then tunes the Level 3 WIND "Bururu" with the Level 4 "Doyon", chanting "Chaos that roams the dark road! The gale that soars the blue sky will bring the path! Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 7 Wind Pegasus @Ignister!" Roboppi tells him that he wrapped it up flawlessly this time, and Ai irritably tells him to stop commenting on everything. He activates the effect of "Bururu" from his Graveyard as it was used as Synchro Material for a Cyberse Synchro Monster, Special Summoning the other Synchro Material from his Graveyard. He resurrects "Doyon" and triumphantly declares that he has two Level 4 monsters. He overlays "Doyon" and the LIGHT "Pikari" to build the Overlay Network, then chants "The supernatural! Earth-shattering! Awaken that power from eternal lamentation! Xyz Summon! Come! Rank 4! Light Dragon @Ignister!" Queen smiles and comments on its 2300 ATK, declaring that it's not enough to defeat her given that "Golden Allure Queen" has 5000 ATK. Ai smirks as Queen tells him that he can't win with this formation, and Ai asks if she's sure.

<!--@"Darkwight @Ignister" prepares to release its effect.-->
 +
"Cyberse Quantum Dragon" releases its attack, and "The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister" counterattacks, blasting twin orbs of energy from its hands in a stream of crimson power that easily brushes aside the beam that "Quantum Dragon" fired. Ai yells that he's won, but Playmaker activates the effect of "Exslayer"; once per turn when a Cyberse monster it points to battles, it can reduce the damage to zero. The counterattack strikes, destroying "Quantum Dragon", but leaving Playmaker's 3475 LP unharmed. Ai comments that Playmaker managed to survive, though "Quantum Dragon" was destroyed. He activates the effect of "Darkwight @Ignister" since Playmaker's monster was destroyed in battle, inflicting 500 damage to him. "Darkwight" generates a blue sphere of energy it its free palm and blasts it at Playmaker, sending him skidding backwards and reducing him to 2975 LP. He Sets a card and he ends his turn. Ai, his LP on 1100, comments that "The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister" is invincible. "The Arrival" currently stands at 11000 ATK, and Ai notes that it's only a matter of time until Playmaker loses. Playmaker controls the 1000 ATK "Exslayer" and the 3500 ATK "Firewall eXceed Dragon", and Ai notes that Playmaker wants to know what happened to him. He closes his eyes and declares that he'll tell Playmaker before this match ends, because he wants him to know everything about the true fate of the Ignis. Playmaker asks Ai what happened, and Ai explains that he went inside Bohman when they fought him for the last time. He recalls that Lightning told him that Ai didn't know the truth of the Ignis, the real truth they'd reach. Playmaker repeats the term, and Ai explains that he went to investigate what it was - he went to Lightning's cave in the Cyberse.

<!--@Lightning's deteriorated copy appears to Ai.-->
 +
He remembers finding the cave, only to be surrounded by data. As he asked what it was, Lightning's voice mused that he'd come and that if he had, he must have defeated Bohman, before an image of the LIGHT Ignis appeared. Ai initially flinched back, but he realized that Lightning was a deteriorated copy that could only convey messages and that Lightning had anticipated his defeat. Lightning had replied that of course he had, and Ai had asked what his motive was. The copy of Lightning had declared that it was its duty to show Ai the truth about the Ignis, and Ai had asked what truth Lightning meant. Lightning explained that he meant a simulation where Ai was the only survivor, much to Ai's shock. Lightning's copy had laughed at his surprise, telling him to observe what kind of A.I. he was and observe his various futures. Ai had destroyed the copy as it laughed at him, but then the data surrounding him had entered his mind. Ai admits that he thought the Ignis and humanity would be able to live together without Lightning, but the future said otherwise.

<!--@Ai sees the projected ruins of Den City during his simulations.-->

Ai remembers seeing Den City in ruins, and he explains that if he's the only survivor, his existence will lead to humanity's extinction. Playmaker asks "Your existence?" in utter shock, and he remembers Bohman telling them that by siding with humanity, Ai had closed the future of the Ignis with his own hands and that he'd hoped Ai wouldn't regret it. Ai sadly admits that this wouldn't have happened had another Ignis other than him or Lightning been the only survivor, and Lightning and Bohman knew this from the start, which was why they said that. Back then, Ai had to do whatever it took to save his friends. Playmaker protests that there was nothing Ai could have done, and there was no other way. Ai replies that he knows, and Playmaker insists that the simulation was Lightning's trap; he knew that if Ai saw it while he was in despair, his heart would fall into darkness, so he shouldn't worry about it. Ai smiles sadly, and he admits that he considered that possibility given that Lightning left the message before he fought them, so he re-entered his data and re-did the simulation, over and over.

<!--@Ai frantically banishes simulations as he tries to avert catastrophe.-->

But the result didn't change. He remembers seeing Den City destroyed in a massive explosion as Playmaker protests that there's no guarantee that the simulation will come true; it's just data. Ai replies that it's only data for Playmaker because he's a life form with a physical body, but Ai is data too, and a great simulation is like living a real life, and he lived that real future thousands of times. He'd banished his screens in fury and brought up another simulation, showing fire erupting form the streets of the city, and he recalls that he tested various ways to change the future as a squadron of planes flew over a city and bombed it, and in another, dark clouds covered the Earth. But the results didn't change, and he fell to his hands and knees and sobbed as he recalled that nothing could be done unless he was erased from existence, screaming in agony. Playmaker protests that Ai has the power to change it; he's a special Ignis, and he can live together with humans. He begs him to find a way to backtrack from this, and Ai asks in amusement if Playmaker is trying to pull him back. He thanks Playmaker, but tells him that he's wrong and he doesn't understand. Ai explains that he learned while everyone was gone that losing friends means that your heart breaks, and his did, causing him to lose self-control. He recalls that Roboppi immediately started looking down on humans after he gained free will, recalling Roboppi's Duels with Ghost Gal and The Shepherd and later Soulburner, and he notes that it's normal for A.I. to do if one thinks about it - and the Ignis weren't normal. They're far superior to humans in memory and calculations and can instantly figure out their faults and contradictions, making it easy to become arrogant, something that is in the nature of an A.I. with free will. Something also awakened within Ai; not evil thoughts, but he wonders, in order for him to live, why does he have to adapt to humans? He now feels differently to humans. Playmaker whispers Ai's name, and Ai reminds him that he said humans didn't want sudden changes. But Ai can no longer stop his own changes, and he's scared that he may turn into someone like Bohman or Lightning, so he wants to vanish before that happens.

Playmaker asks that if losing a friend means your heart breaks, then is Ai trying to break Playmaker's? Ai huffs in amusement, sadly commenting on what a nice thing that was for Playmaker to say. Playmaker begs Ai to find a way to turn back, but Ai insists that there is none, and he apologizes for deciding that there's not backtracking.

<!--@"The Arrival" attacks.-->
 +
Ai resolutely tells Playmaker that he's coming, and he's continuing the Duel. Playmaker yells Ai's name, but Ai ignores him, declaring his turn and drawing. He activates the effect of "The Arrival", destroying a monster and then Special Summoning an "@Ignister Token" to a zone it points to. He declares that he's destroying "Exslayer", but Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Synchron" from his Graveyard, banishing it to prevent the destruction of "Exslayer" and preventing Ai from Special Summoning his Token monster. Ai grins, and he decides to battle in that case. "The Arrival" attacks "eXceed Dragon", and it materializes a large blade in its hand and raises it into the air, causing the six orbs on its rings to begin glowing. They project energy into the air at the tip of its blade, extending into a blade of energy. Ai orders the "Ultima Attribution" attack of "The Arrival", and "The Arrival" brings down its blade, sending an arc of energy through the air. Playmaker activates the effect of "Exslayer", reducing the battle damage to zero. That effect again? Ai asks, before noting that "eXceed Dragon" will still be destroyed. "eXceed Dragon" is struck by the attack and explodes, and Ai follows up with the effect of "Darkwight", inflicting 500 damage to Playmaker and reducing him to 2475 LP. Ai declares that now "eXceed Dragon" is gone, and he ends his turn, telling Playmaker to bring it on.

Playmaker says Ai's name sadly, before getting a determined look, and he declares his turn and draws. He uses "Exslayer" to Link Summon the Link-1 "Linkross". Ai is surprised that Playmaker gave up the "Exslayer" he'd been using for defense, and Playmaker adds that he can also Special Summon "Link Tokens" equal to the Link Rating of the Link Monster he used as Link Material. Two "Link Tokens" appear, and then Playmaker summons "Metal Molephosis", explaining that when it is Summoned, he can change the "Link Tokens" to the Type and Attribute he specifies. He chooses to make them DARK Dragon monsters, much to Ai's confusion, and the crosses on the sides of the "Link Tokens" transform into small dragons. Playmaker then Link Summons again, setting "Metal Molephosis" and "Link Cross" to Link Summon the Link-2 "Proxy F Magician". He activates its effect, since a Fusion Monster is either on the field or in the Graveyard, allowing him to Fusion Summon. The spikes on "Proxy F Wizard's" staff open and the jewel at the tip glows, and as Playmaker fuses the two "Link Tokens" he chants "The two forlorn anger that live in the network, surpass the root of evil and become one!" Ai is shocked that Playmaker is fusing Dragon monsters, and Playmaker chants "Fusion Summon! Appear, Borreload Furious Dragon!" The "Borreload" Fusion Monster appears with 3000 ATK, and Ai asks in shock why Playmaker has "Borreload". Then he realizes that Varis gave Playmaker the card, and he muses that he sees; this is the power of Playmaker's new friend.

<!--@"Firewall Dragon Darkfluid" places four counters.-->
 +
Playmaker then activates the other effect of "Proxy F Magician", Special Summoning a monster with 1000 or less ATK from his hand. He Special Summons "L2 Cachevalier", then activates its effect to Special Summon a Link-2 Link Monster from his Graveyard with its effects negated, and he revives "Exslayer". Then he chants "Appear! The circuit that leads to the future!", and he sets "Exslayer", "L2 Cachevalier" and "Proxy F Magician", then he chants "The mysterious power filling the universe! Rain on the miracle star and create eternal life! Link Summon! Appear, Link-5 Firewall Dragon Darkfluid!" Ai looks up at the monster, noting that "Darkfluid" contained everyone's wishes, and now it's his enemy. He comments that it must be karma, and Playmaker insists that he'll use everyone's wishes to change Ai. The effect of "Darkfluid" activates, and as "Cyberse Magician", "Clock Dragon", "Quantum Dragon" and "eXceed Dragon" are all shown, Playmaker places four counters. Ai recalls that "Darkfluid" gains 2500 ATK for each counter, so it will be stronger than "The Arrival" and he'll lose if this attack gets through. He tells Playmaker to do it, and Playmaker says Ai's name. Ai tells Playmaker to make up his mind; he came to get them back, didn't he? He's everyone's hope, so he has to do it even if Ai is the opponent. Playmaker clenches his fist, but he declares battle, and "Darkfluid" attacks "The Arrival", powering up its wings. The ATK of "Darkfluid" then increases to 13000 as it attacks with "Neo Tempest", generating a sphere of dark energy in between its wings and blasting it at Ai.

<!--@"Borreload Furious Dragon" prepares to destroy "Judgment Arrows".-->
 +
Ai tells Playmaker that's the spirit; it makes him happy, but he apologizes, as he doesn't plan on taking this attack. He activates the effect of "The Arrival", removing one counter to make it immune to Playamker's card effects this turn. Playmaker grimly notes that "The Arrival" is unaffected by other card effects anyway when it has a counter, and Ai agrees, adding that without a counter, that protection has vanished, and now only Playmaker's card effects don't affect "The Arrival" - meaning that "Judgment Arrows" can now affect it, doubling the ATK of "The Arrival" from 11000 to 22000. Ai comments that the attack of "Darkfluid" can't be stopped, and he declares that he's turned the tables. But Playmaker activates the effect of "Borreload Furious", destroying a monster he controls and a card that Ai controls. He destroys "Furious" itself and "Judgment Arrows", much to Ai's shock, and "Furious" flies into the Link Spell Card, destroying them both. Ai realizes that "Furious" was intended to counter "Judgment Arrows", and he remembers that Varis has been the one most worried about "Judgment Arrows". He admits that he failed to anticipate this, and Playmaker reminds Ai that since "Judgment Arrows" left the field, all the monsters it pointed to are destroyed - in other words, "The Arrival" will be destroyed.

 +
Ai curses, realizing that this was Playmaker's plan from the start. He thinks that it wasn't bad, but activates the effect of "FA.I.ghting Spirit" from his Graveyard, banishing it to prevent "The Arrival" from being destroyed by battle or card effects this turn. Playmaker reminds Ai that with fewer cards on his field, the ATK of "The Arrival" decreases to 10000. The "Neo Tempest" attack approaches, and Ai smiles, reflecting again that he'll lose if this attack succeeds. He admits that he didn't think Playmaker would play this well and that he's truly become strong, but he won't win that easily. He activates the effect of "Wind Pegasus @Ignister" from his Graveyard since Playmaker destroyed a Spell or Trap Card this turn, banishing it to shuffle "Darkfluid" back to the Deck. Playmaker then activates the effect of "Darkfluid", removing a counter to negate the activation of the effect of Ai's monster, though as Ai notes, "Darkfluid" loses ATK, falling to 10500 ATK. The attack finally hits, slamming into a blue energy sphere protecting "The Arrival" and reducing Ai to 600 LP. Playmaker reminds him that the effect of "Darkfluid" will allow it to attack again, and it attacks with "Neo Tempest", this time blasting purple lightning from its arms at "The Arrival's" energy shield. Ai is pushed backwards as he falls to 100 LP, and Playmaker ends his turn, and the ATK of "Darkfluid" returns to normal. Ai admits that he's impressed; even though he has "The Arrival", Playmaker was still able to push him this hard, and he comments that it was unexpected.

<!--@Ai mockingly worries about the effect of "Darkfluid".-->
 +
Once again he declares that he's coming, and he declares his turn and draws. He activates the effect of "The Arrival", placing a counter, but as the blue orb lights up Playmaker activates the effect of "Darkfluid", removing a counter to negate the effect of "The Arrival". Ai notes that of course Playmaker did, since "The Arrival" would have been unaffected by card effects if it had a counter. But he still has another effect, and he activates the effect of "The Arrival", destroying a monster to Special Summon an "@Ignister Token". Again, Playmaker counters with the "Karma Gear" effect of "Darkfluid", and Ai gasps that another effect was negated, and he worries about how he'll deal with "Darkfluid". But then he notes that "Darkfluid" only has one counter left, so it can only increase to 5500 ATK. Now's Ai's chance, and he explains that due to "Karma Gear" he can Special Summon this card; "Gatchiri @Ignister". With another card on the field, "The Arrival" gains 1000 ATK, increasing to 11000 ATK. He Sets a card, and "The Arrival" gains more ATK, rising to 12000. He declares that it's plenty, and he declares battle, ordering "The Arrival" to attack "Darkfluid", and its six orbs light up and it slashes an energy wave at "Darkfluid" with "Ultima Attribution". Playmaker activates the effect of "Darkfluid", increasing its ATK by 2500 per counter, to 5500, and Ai crows that it's not enough ATK and yells that it's over.

<!--@"Firewall Dragon Darkfluid" is destroyed. (the shot just before it's obscured in smoke, with the energy blade passing through its body.-->

But Playmaker sends "Transcode Talker" from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to activate the Quick-Play Spell Card "Link Pressure", increasing the ATK of "Darkfluid" by 1000 times its Link Rating. "Darkfluid" powers up to 10500 ATK, though Ai yells that "The Arrival" is still stronger and bids "Darkfluid" goodbye. "Ultima Attribution" hits, and "Darkfluid" is destroyed at last. The shockwave flings Playmaker off his feet with a cry, and he lands on his back before struggling to his feet, Avatar fizzing as his LP fall to 975. Then the effect of "Darkeight" activates, inflicting 500 damage to Playmaker. "Darkwight" tosses another blue energy sphere, this time blasting Playmaker to the edge of the Data Storm and reducing him to 475 LP. Ai then explains that since he destroyed "Darkfluid" in battle, he can Special Summon "Gussari @Ignister" from his hand, and "The Arrival" gains more ATK, rising to 13000. He ends his turn, and as Playmaker gets to his feet, Ai explains that when the Link Monster linked to "Gussari" destroys a monster by battle, Playmaker will take damage equal to that Link Monster's ATK. In other words, "The Arrival" has achieved its strongest form. He comments that he'll definitely end Playmaker next turn.

<!--@Ai offers to fuse with Playmaker.-->
 +
Playmaker gets to his feet, panting Ai's name, but Ai doesn't respond. Playmaker bites back an expression of sorrow, and Ai turns to Playmaker and he asks him to come with him. Playmaker asks Ai what he means, and Ai extends his hand and he asks him to become one with him, to change his consciousness into data and fuse with him. Only Playmaker can stop him, and if they're one, lifespans won't matter. They should be able to create a different future than Bohman or Lightning, right? They can live in the network world for eternity. Playmaker whispers Ai's name, and Ai Playmaker's as they stare across the field at one another within the roiling Data Storm...
